If your definition of a sports car is an automatic transmission, lots of power, and back seats, and weigh 3500lbs+ then sure. But to me, that has no driver involvement, sure you can go quick, but what's the fun in that? The Z4M is different because it's designed with one thing in mind, and that is to have fun. It doesn't have the practicality to pick up your kids from soccer practice, or take your co-workers to lunch. It's a car designed to put a huge smile on your face even when you are sitting in the garage, to make you want to drive till your legs fall off.

The AMG especially is just a fast car, there's nothing sporty about it, just a big, powerful cruiser. It's a nice car, don't get me wrong, but just not a sports car.

 

They are called Sports Sedans, Sport Coupes, etc for a reason. It's all in the perception.
