As a few of you may know I started on a build about two years ago after I purchased my first & only S2000. It's been a very long and somewhat time consuming task to imagine, create, plan, and finalize this dream build. Each stage has taken a-lot of time, creativity, and money. There has been bumps in the road, and many directions have changed along the way.
I thought maybe it was time to make a thread of My TS2000 build.
To begin: A photo of the S2000 right after I purchased her on 08 Feb 2008. I took her straight to the car wash for a nice detail.
With an upcoming deployment in DEC 2008 I had to leave my vehicle with a family member that I thought I could trust with my baby for a year. The picture on the right was one of the last times I seen her for a year. I had always liked the vented hood look and brought my S to NY Metro's Vented Hood Master, S~Factor. Before dropping her off at my uncles place.
During my free time in Iraq, I had begun to formulate almost every aspect of my build, decide what I wanted and make some moves. I started sourcing out the parts and spending lots of money.
A big thanks to the few friends that gave me support, ideas, constructive criticism, and feedback. Also to the companies I have had business with for all the great customer service, prices, parts, and support. And finally too all my haters. You all know who you are.
I came back to a terribly mistreated S2000. She had been left sitting outside in the elements behind my uncles Body-shop in New Jersey. There was red paint splattered on the side of my car and top. There was what looked like residue from paint thinner after someone attempted to clean up the mess. The BB paint was covered in a fine mist of gray primer that had settled. The brake rotors were rusted and pitted, the tires had flat spots and gravel dug deep into the tires from just sitting stationary on them for so long, the battery was dead, but started after a brief charge. I put on the new plates and drove her a short distance to a buddies house to give her a freshening up, and attempt to bring her out of the depths of abuse. As I drove there was a crazy vibration & I could hear the tiny little pebbles flinging out of the tires and ticking off the inner fenders.
Needless to say my family was completely unconcerned about my anger and disappointment.
After a lot of wet sanding, cutting and buffing, in the middle of a NYC Dec (AKA colder then a walk in freezer @ a meat packing plant), her inner beauty started to come back.
I was unable to get the red paint out of the top. So I just gave in a went Hardtop. Found a Local guy in Jersey with a Replica Mugen Top he was trying too sell. Picked it up and solved the red poke-a-dot drop top issue.
And yes it did snow like the next day.
I got her looking back to a somewhat decent state and took her back down to NC for a few months. Where it snowed there too but made for some decent pictures.
In March I began to move too Pheonix AZ from Jacksonville NC. I had been anticipating this move for sometime and it was finally here.
Over the last couple of months the "PUCMGNET" has been under the knife stages of the build. It has been a somewhat difficult and awe inspiring journey to see the build actually coming together, after so much planning and dedication to the project. She's not done just yet but the finish line is definitely in sight.
I'm not going to release all the juicy lil details or photos just yet of what the build actually consists of because that will spoil all the fun for the Homecoming.
BUT here is one teaser shot of the car about a week ago.
The way the pic was taken was completely unintentional but I think it's one helluva teaser shot.
I hope you guys have enjoyed reading up on a little of my build and I look forward to updating this thread as soon as the build is completed.
Black looks so nice when it's clean. Look forward to seeing the final prodduct! If you keep the wheels, I think you should spray the center caps black.
How about some more teasers???? I saw you were selling your front bumper and fenders, so I assume some wider fenders and matching bumper are in order. What else ya doing? All supporting suspension/wheels/ etc mods?
Looking forward to seeing it, then we can do a photoshoot since your closeby on the westside.
