Default Valve adjustment settings

So I thought I'd do a valve adjustment while the valve cover is off.

All my intake valves are steady at 0.008

The odd thing is all my exhaust valves seem to be at or below 0.008

Spec says 0.010

Should I mess with it or leave it alone?
Car has 40k miles.

If you are already in you should do it. It's only going to get tighter.I

I thought they only get looser over time?

I'm reading this
http://www.s2000.org/articles/valve_adjustment/
and it says tighter is not a bad thing...maybe it's supposed to be tight on the exhaust side if all my valves are set that way?

They tend to get tighter. The valve beats into the valve seat . Over time this pushes the valve higher up into the head reducing your clearance/ making it tighter. It's easy to do and will take a extra hour. Might as well get it done and not worry about it for another 30k miles

Thanks Ben! Glad I did it. I understand how it's supposed to feel now
Another notch on my resume.

I have had some get looser, and some get tighter. either way they go out of adjustment. Always adjust them to spec if you are already in there doing it

I've seen intakes get loose on a couple that I've done but never exhaust. I imagine it has to do with the heat on the exhaust side weakening the metal making the valve seat a little softer.
