02 Sebring Silver/Red
Sigh...The time may have finally come for me to part with my S2K.
MY02 Sebring Silver with Red interior. 64,000 miles. No Mods other than aftermarket audio. Never been tracked. New tires. New TCT.
I have a CEL that has been coming and going. Holmes Honda says it is bad gas and wants to clean the tank. Worst case scenario is that they want to replace the fuel injectors. $500-$1500. The reality is that I simply do not want to deal with it.
I was debating trading my S2K for a new SRT8 Charger. The dealer offered $15k for my S2K. The reality set in that if I sell the S2K and drive my old truck I can wipe out a ton of student loans and be debt free in no time. That would free me up to replace my beloved S2K with another car of choice in a year or two.
So here it is. If anyone is willing to beat the dealer's offer I will part ways with my beloved car. It has been driven gently for the vast majority of its life. Never raced. This is simply too good of an opportunity for me to try and get ahead financially.

i would be happy to try and help you clear the cel. chase called me today with the issue. they make gas cleaner that evaporates water out of the tank. mix that with some octane booster and run the car as low as you can out of fuel. dont take it into vtec either. even mix some injector cleaner in there. at 60k miles i highly doubt they need replacing. it happened to me once before when my dad tried to help me out by filling up my tank. they wanted to dump the tank and everything else. not worth it. hit me up on my cell
The light has been coming and going for a few years. It could very well be that every time I got bad gas this happened. Chase seems to sincerely believe the diagnosis. I, however, am a bit hesitant.
I am going to run this tank as low as she can go and pump octane boosters and fuel injection cleaners through it as much as possible for a while.
The car idles a bit rough but otherwise runs just fine. I am going to work on fixing this problem myself before having any work done.
Ultimately I think I am still in the market to sell. I love my car and will miss it every time I climb into the raggedy old truck. But, the financial opportunity is simply too good for me to pass up.

Financially speaking, it sounds like you are wanting a 'get out of debt' card. If that is the case, then do what is financially responsible.
As far as the bad gas diagnosis goes, I'm hesistant to agree with that as well.
To get everything cleaned out, run this tank as low as it will go (like you plan to) Get some STP fuel system cleaner, pour it in before filling up, then fill her up with Chevron 93 Octane.
Have you had the CEL light pulled and read ? I would assume so since it's been to the dealership for this. Just curious, of course

I've had the code read almost every time it has come on. Every single time it has either been misfires in cyl 1,2,4 or loose gas cap (only once). It may very well be that I got some bad gas and clogged the injectors on those cylinders. I am going to chase this problem and try to beat it myself using the methods you guys have suggested.
The car will still be for sale simply for financial reasons. I by no means have to sell my car. I was considering trading it in for a new car just a few days ago. Basically my options are as follows:
1) Keep the S2K and pay my student loans as I have been >slowly over the course of several years (7-10) while still maintaining a sweet ride.
2) Trade the S2K as I had considered for a new Dodge Charger SRT8 (Black). It would be a financial crunch but it would also give me a beast of a car with a full warranty while still getting the most return out of my S2K.
3) Sell the S2K and use the money to knock out a huge chunk of student loan debt. This would put me in a position to take down my loans in less than half the time without any real lifestyle sacrifices. In theory it could put me in a position to buy something much larger in 2-3 years (BMW M5)
Looks like time for a vote. Tell me what you all think.

Im going to run cleaner through it, but I really dont want to start throwing money into it chasing one possible problem after another when I intend to sell it. If I spend $2000+ chasing around this CEL it will essentially eat up a chunk of my would be profits.
Thats why I'd do the simple tests first. If no go, move on.
Anyone remember, didn't turbocannon (bob) have something similar happen to his MY02 ? I remember misfire codes being talked about, as well as injectors.
