Default '08 mod list

since i definately can't afford to put money into a f/i setup right now, i'm gonna try to do an ap2 laguna conversion. the first time i saw a laguna s2k, i fell in love but i didn't want the ap2 motor or any of that... so i want to get bumpers, oem lips, door panels, heads and tails(will settle for ap1 heads with clear diffusers), and if i can't find a killer deal on some nice aftermarket rims, i might go to ap2 rims (v1 or v2, doesn't matter). might do the ap2 console as well.

actually thought about selling my usdm parts and makin it into a jdm show car too and the laguna would definately help a ton. also, with me getting a truck, it'll be so much easier to get parts and i can trailer it to shows... just a thought tho.

but what does everyone think of my plans?

By the time you do all of that, you could have gone F/I

not really... i want the greddy kit with aem ems and even if i got it for a steal, it would be upwards of $3500 when i can sell my ap1 parts to put towards ap2 parts and i won't have to worry about diff. problems or any of that... i've always wanted to go turbo but s/c is starting to appeal to me.

anyways, i would only end up paying about $1500 over the course of a year for the conversion as opposed to $3500 all at once and still not be satisfied with the car. i could end up making it a n/a monster with cams, itb's, etc. and still maintain oem reliability seeing as i have no warranty on it at all. if i do end up going all out ap2 conversion (minus motor and tranny) then i may get an ap2 diff so i will feel obligated to go f/i in the future.

by the way, i said this is what i want to do. it i didn't ask if i should go f/i or not. that is simply not an option for me right now...

your cost of being a NA monster is going to be as much as your cost of going FI by the time your done. You can peice FI together by doing it peice by peice. After doing paint for the conversion and everything your going to come out more than 1500. I've been peicing together my turbo kit for a couple month's now. No one's telling you what to do just telling you, that your complaining about no affording one thing but yet wanna do something different that's gonna cost just around the same amount.

Only $12,369 more and you could have a set of headers for my car

ANYWAYS, i'm not sure if i want to go n/a, turbo, or s/c... what i DO know is that i want to do ap2 conversion... so that's that. i could still go put money into n/a, turbo, or s/c later on if i want but i'm not gonna start piecing together a kit until i decide what direction i want to go with it. but for the ap2 parts i want, i can get them for $1500 +my oem(wether i trade or sell) and that's before paint. if i find laguna parts or find ap2 parts slightly damaged or scratched, i can get them cheaper and save myself money in the long run and still have the opportunity during the '08 year where i want to go with the car as far as power is concerned.

i take it you are buying used ap2 parts, i have looked into it and between the tail lights headlights alone you are looking over a 1k. I agree the laguna blue ap2 is beautiful and I think everyone is just stating that it is a costly change over. NOW if you are trying to justify it then by all means i think you should do it. To me you are going to make the car look newer and add value to yourself since you are going to feel like you have a newer generation model.

NOW i can speak for the supercharger since i did have one. Dont waste your money, just go Turbo there is more potential there and you can boost less PSI and be more efficient then with the supercharger. Being a linear power band you still feel nothing till vtec and dont make full power till redline. it is def an upgrade but there is more potential elsewhere. The diff is pretty tough unless you are going to the track and doing endless clutch dumps, i drove my car pretty hard for about 8 months at the track. I ending up braking both axles, and broke some teeth in the diff. I am going NA now and i love the sound and the power, plus the fact i dont worry about boost leaks, sputters, etc. There was always a headache with the charger.

Basically if you are looking for a change either one is a good option, but ultimately the ap2 conversion will be more noticeable and more dependable
