Bad Brakes
When I'm driving I hear a tiny scraping sound with every rotation of the wheels from what sounds like the driver front. I am not positive how long it's been doing this. So here are my questions.
How much are brake pads? (I called Jim's South Tire on Barksdale Blvd. and they said that it would cost about $130 to do the fronts and turn the rotors but won't be able to do it until monday. Is that worth it?).
Which ones should I replace?
How should I replace them (take it somewhere or do it myself)?
It's Saturday and I don't know if I'll be able to replace them until Monday. Thanks.

My car makes a similar noise and is most noticeable during acceleration. I am ordering Red stuff brake pads if you are interested I can get you some too and should be less than the price stated earlier. I think I also know someone who can turn disc on the cheap. Give me shout if you are interested.
Justin, we had some work done on it once. It was making a similar noise on rotation, but the sound was coming from the rear. It was not continuous, it was with each rotation. The ticket for the work should be in the binder Kirk gave you. Honda fixed the problem, turned out one of the axles (or bearing) needed to be greased or something like that, I can't remember exactly.
I actually thought it was a wheel bearing (if you search you'll find wheel bearings are a common problem with similar noise patterns.
Brakes: You can check the pads pretty easy with the 17" wheels on the AP1. The best, cheapest replacement pads are OEM honda pads (if they actually do need to be reaplced) I do believe that those are the original pads on the car, so at 40k + miles there is a strong chance they are worn down enough for the wear bars to scrape against the rotors.
Rotors: Fine, should be no need to replace. I drove the car enough to know that they are in round and not warped. Again the Honda OEM rotors are effing great. I have track time, numerous mountain tours, and I have absolutely no warping on mine, and have 43k miles on it.
Anyway anything I can help with holler at me.

Thanks Andy. I didn't see thus post until after I replaced the front pads. I bought some $20 duralast brakes for fronts and rears. haven't changed the rears yet. I just needed that noise to stop. So far I haven't heard the noise. Thanks for the help. If anything comes up I'll let you know.
I found the receipt from Honda that you were talking about Andy. It says it was fixed for $83 back at the beginning of november. Do you think I could take it back up there with the receipt and make them take a look at it at no cost? I mean it's only been a little over 3 months. Thats ridiculous.

I don't see why Honda wouldn't take a look back at it. You can call Chase at Holmes Honda (Service advisor). Tell him you are the guy that bought Andy's roomates S2000, explain the situation. Or if you have time this week, go up there and see him (if your going to be in the area) oine day this week.
I'll txt him tomorrow and give him a heads up.
If I would have seen this at 7a.m. this morning I would have had him look into it, as I was up there today getting two new rear tires mounted and an alignment.
Anyway, let me know, again I'd be glad to listen to it.

Also to Justin its a good idea to replace all your breaks at once. I believe Honda warranties work for 90 days. Andy has you pointed in the right direction, Chase up there is a good guy and will take care of you. Good luck man
