Default Engine Light! Gahhhh!

well today i was just cruising around for fun and all of a sudden the check engine light popped on.. and the car kinda backfires a bit now when i let off the gas. so i went over to Autozone for a little check and this is what it said:

1. Loose Fuel cap
2. vapor canister saturated
3. Failed vent solenoid
4. Failed purge solenoid

and just me being the noobie i am from s2k... i have no ideas what those are. any help guys? Thank You

Don't worry about CEL's unless the damn thing is blinking. 9 times out of 10 it's just the evaporative emissions bullshit.

You're car is gonna be fine. Solution: do some hand crunches and screw the gas cap on tighter next time.

Your car is about to blow up due to evaporating fuel tank fumes. I'd dump it immediately. I'll take it off your hands and give you a couple grand for your trouble.

But really...
Yup...that cel may not go out right away but I'm betting if you screwed the cap on tight already the light will go away in a few driving cycles. How many miles on the car?

once you have the cap screwed on tight, just reset the ECU.

iirc, it's the fuse labelled backup.

a forum search brought this wisdom:
2nd fuse down on the right side of the drivers foot well fuse block. It's the third slot down because the top spot is empty on the US cars. The one you want is between a 15 Amp (blue) and another 7.5 Amp (brown) fuse.
do it engine off. 10-15 seconds is usually enough

that should turn the light off.

if it comes back, get it scanned again.
