No idea. Kinda wondered that myself. When I put in my Pioneer deck, it sounded alot better and louder (as loud as it can with two speakers)

Well, I had my deck installed today. The volume level goes up pretty high on the new amp. And the factory got to like 30 and it was too loud. I can max this one out to like level 62 and its loud but it seems like it takes longer to get where teh factory deck was. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Its a really nice deck and good sound quality. Just was wondering if there was a amp that it needs to be ran through.

What Bobby said....
The aftermarket headunit almost always has more power than the factory, unless of course it has an amp.
The aftermarket has a more broad range of volume than a factory unit as well, that's why when you can't compare colume level 15 on factory, to volume 15 on aftermarket.
Sound will always be cleaner and louder than factory, of course the power handling of the speakers play a large part too, but aftermarket headunits will always make them sound better (until they pop )

Keith would know since he did his own install but I believe we don't have an amp outside the factory head unit.

I think thats what it is. The new deck has a higher range of volume. I mean, I love it so far. You can load your own background photos onto it. I loaded some cool honda pictures and a picture of my car. The interface is a little hard to learn. I'm going to eventually hook it up to my Ipod. Just did the deck for right now. I'm thinking about a sub. I don't know if I want to do it. If I do, I'm gonna have darknight from the forums make me a box. So, I don't sacrifice a lot of trunk space.
