i'llbe makng a trip out to the honda dealership tuesday morning

i've done a lil bit of researching and there's some glimmer of hope... supposedly there's a wear and tear clause and it should cover the tear

if honda won't deal, you can use black PVC glue/cement. very, very carefully

I patch small tears with thin nylon weave (like luggage is made from) and 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Cheap, works well.

What's up Francis?

Maybe you might want to keep the S2000 and get a cheap truck for work. I know how much you love your S. You will regret getting rid of the S2000...just a suggustion

alrighty then people, gimme details about your top repair/rigging...

in the chance honda wont fix it, im interested in the 'nylon fix' and the pvc cement fix.... im very familiar with pvc cement cause i work with it all day BUT what do you mean by 'very carefully'???

and also... i really dont wanna get rid of the s2k but if i cant find a suitable Ranger, S10, Sonoma in the 5k range, then the honda ridgeline is my best chance.

hey huy, expect a call from me in the near future...

Last fix I did, I used thinner nylon weave than I used on my Miatas: this time I cut apart a CD case. The stuff I used was very thin and flexible.

I cut out a generous circle of material. To keep the edges from fraying, I used a lighter to melt the edges a bit.

I put 3M Weatherstrip adhesive (black, not yellow!) all over it, then pressed the patch up from the inside. I work it a bit to get rid of any air gaps, and hold firm for a few minutes,. Some glue will squeeze out (good). I wait a couple days until it;s dry to remove the excess (it rolls off like rubber cement when dry, but when wet it will smear badly).

It holds up pretty well.
