Default S2000's come and S2000's go

Well.. I have taken a new job that requires me to travel to New Orleans or Baton Rouge every day. I have been splitting time commuting in my truck and the S2000.

Ashley refused to let me have FOUR vehicles so something had to give. It was the S2000. It has no practical use. We use the truck for all of our house projects and to haul the dog around.

I traded the S2000 in on a 2006 Acura TSX with nav. This wasn't done with a lot of thought. I actually ordered new rotors and wheel bearings on Monday for the S2000. I went to start my daily commute and the thought of hours in traffic in my truck was too much to stand. So I whipped into the BMW dealership and almost pulled the trigger on an M3. I decided to wait since they will have a new model come out in a little over a year. The M3 will have a V-8. So if I buy one now I won't be able to get out of it when people start trading up for the new M3. I talked to a buddy who told me to get into to something that high residual... he suggested the TSX. I loved it. Great gas mileage and Navi. I was sold. I was able to trade the S2000 in for more than what I paid for it when you factor in the tax savings for a trade.

If I would have known I was taking a new job I probably wouldn't have bought the S2000. I am extremely happy that I was able to get out of it and into something nice though. So all is well that ends well.

Another chapter in my S2000 ownership has come to an end.

whoa!

well, i have to admit - the TSX is a pretty sweet vehicle.... but wow. no chance to take the S on the full track now.

honestly, i've loved commuting in my S. nothing like putting down the top and enjoying a crisp wind after a pissy day.

Sorry for your loss.

I also commute from Baton Rouge to Belle Chasse daily. About 2 yrs ago I found a 91 CRX Hf and snatched it up. Before that I was driving my Grand Prix, talk about a savings in gas money.

I was looking to replace the Grand Prix and thought about a TL, but the fiance talked me into the S.

Now I have a daily beater and a fun weekend car. Oh yeah, the fiance will be getting the 4dr for us. Hopefully the TL.

Hope you can get another S down the road.

Nice car, Brian. If you still decide to trade it in on a M3 you will owe all of us a ride

I understand.

I could not do my 70 mile round trip in the S. I do have a eye on the new M3. It they release it in 2008 my car will be 4 years old and time for a new one. I am also looking at the Audi RS4. I am just not a fan of the angry beaver front end. For a second I thought Z06. But I had bratwurst and felt better. Thought damn I almost ate a hot dog.

At this point I want high HP and rear wheel drive.

A V8 M3 or RS4 would be so much fun at NPR.

I can conduct business out of the TSX and haul clients around. When clients are in your car they can't run. It is the perfect time for an upsell. I even tried to convince my boss to let me expense the car! He told me to put it on my expense report and he would personally hand it to the VP. Somehow I don't think he would be arguing my case for me.

I work out of my car now. The truck had no features and the S2000 is so loud at highway speeds I couldn't use my cell for conference calls. If I can use my cell phone in my car I can leave later and earlier to help with traffic.

No as faw as getting to run an S2000 on the track or AutoX... I am sure someone might let me co-drive. Especially since I still have an awesome set of 17 inch ASA's with track rubber on them. I am sure we can work something out.

As far as the M3 goes... if I didn't call a buddy to say, "I am buying an M3." and then him say.. you might want to hold off... I would be in an M3. Peake BMW is a stone's throw from Walker Acura. So you can see where that went.

brian,

it is hard to see that you've traded in your s2k.

it is even HARDER to see how i passed up business with a s2ki member at my own dealership!!!

yes, i also work at Walker Acura... but it is ok... you've got a good buy and a great car... you will enjoy it esp with the bluetooth if you haven't gotten it..

just let me know if i can do anything to help..

anthony

As much as I like my Bimmer, I'd advise against anyone buying the new M the first year it's out. Too much of a new platform with things to go wrong.
