S2KDays 2003!
I was 35 y.o. and the wife 31 y.o. when they arrived. Talk about a change in lifestyle. We had tried for many years and had been thru a couple of miscarriages before the Lord blessed us with them. I don't see how those with six at a time do it. Having twins is fun though. Not to sound silly, but it is kinda like having a s2000, in that now you will draw more attention in general, than you are used to. On the negative side. People, who you do not know, will ask to hold them. We never allowed this. In my job I meet a lot of new people every week, there are alot of LOONIES out there. People, you do not know, will argue with you that they are not twins. If yours are identical, then this may not be a problem. Mine are fraternal, also they are boy and girl, a lot of people can not understand how they are twins. I gave up giving biology lessons to these people after about 3 months. I would then tell them that I didn't understand it either, and that my wife would explain it to them. Or they are twins because they have different mothers, but they were born on the same day. Or they are test tube babies and I got a buy-one-get-one free deal.
Be ready for the host of people who will walk by the stroller, especially men, and say "double trouble" or "better you than me". Just reply "nope, double joy" or "I think we all agree on that". When one gets sick, both get sick, but that is pretty much true if you have young children in general. Now the negative is out of the way. Positvely the best experience in your life. I only have the two. You are out numbered.
Three kids loving two parents has got to be great. You have heard it before, yet you will marvel at how close the two of them will be and how tightly knit your family is. You will feel like you are bleeding money but you will make it. Time becomes a bigger factor, and for the next three years you will get less sleep than when you were in college.
But your heart is about to do a grinch like expansion (three sizes---not saying you are the grinch
) You will now be known around church, school work, etc. as the "father of the twins", although only women will call you this. I could keep going for hours.....

lol.
lots of frank advice... thanks... i'm already fed up w/ all the people who find out and just burst w/, "Oh, you're so lucky!"
and i think to myself... "bah, you won't have to get up at 3 am to feed both, what do you know?"
most of my friends who do already have kids, hear, just moan, and offer us their sympathy.
still, right now, initial signs are that we have one boy and one girl, but we won't know for sure till the fat lady sings (or rather - pops...
).
and i am definitely bleeding money... we had no twins at all in our family, so when we bought gear for our first, we bought pretty nice stuff, so we could reuse it for #2. and now, we're having to rebuy everything for the twins... ack. (anyone need any baby gear? slighty used?
) i was barely conned into #2 by my wife, and here i'm getting a #3 in the deal...
(sigh)
all in all, i'm already tired just thinking about it...

like she's ever going to read this....

but seriously, she's not horribly size conscious right now (at least not from a 'fat' perspective)... she knows she's big and getting bigger, and right now that's a good thing.... just wait till after she's had the baby, then it will be forbidden to talk about it...
