Default Tires!

Ok so im riding around on slicks and its nearly undriveable in the rain. Monday i think im going to go buy a new set but i dont know what tires are really good for this car. I still have the stock rims on so.

If anyone has an opinions about which i should buy, Im going to go do the pricing tomorrow.

thanks

I put the Sumitomo HTRZ II on my stockies and they provided really nice grip both in the dry and wet. The price is really good too. If you want something a little bit more aggressive they do offer the Sumitomo HTRZ III. Really it depends on how much you plan on spending and what your going to be using them for.

also depends on how long do you want them to last? star spec are damn good, better than re01, but you hardly get those now. um rt-615 are very good, so i have heard but they seem to not last long. no-no to khumo mx, great when they are warm but if they are still cold or if you are driving around town for 20 min, they still wont be warm. always want to try the khumo xs, they look great and are cheap. a good tire in the rain would be hankook r-s2, they are pretty good on dry.

Scheffsky, I prefer Bridgestone Potenza RE050A pole position tires for my supercharged '02 S2000. I find them excellent in dry or wet conditions. Since my S is not my primary driver, I put less than 5,000 miles per year on the car; uses include The Driver's Edge high-speed driving school (Texas World Speedway), leading 'spirited' Boston Mountain Tours, long trips on interstates and in city traffic. Since the RE050A is a summer tire, I have different wheels/tires for winter use.

Hey Dustin... btw, nice meeting you a couple weeks ago.
Like Jmoore2k, I have had the RE050 Pole Positions, and really liked them... Just changed them out and now have the RE01-R's

I just wrote a bunch of shit about the Sumitomo HTRZ III, and then realized that they only start in 17inch and that won't work for you unfortunately. Seems to be a good tire though.

See I was really considering the pole positions, However the guy I talked to about them said i should get the fusion. I dont remember the brand. That while the poles may offer great performance, it wasnt a DD tire.
Also a little bit of uncommon knowledge, I live only 2 miles from my job and a block from my college so i dont have much travel.
I dont street race much and the car may never see a track, But i do like to drive aggressive so im looking for a great gripping tire.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

P.S. Price isnt truely an issue, i get massive deals from a company.

That's not true about the Pole Position not being a DD tire.... almost anything can be a DD tire it just depends on how often you want to change them.

He may say that because of the treadwear rating.... I got about 10k out of my (rear) Pole Positions, but that was with 1 HPDE, and 2 Boston Mountain Tours.
However, I had upgraded the width of my stock rears (OEM AP2 is 245, my pole positions were 255)I have read that the wider tires have a tendency to wear out faster.

If price isn't really an issue, I would buy the RE50 Pole Positions, I think you will like them.

Did you get the Pole Positions ?

If so, I never said it would be cheap

However, if you DID in fact buy them you should be eligible for the $100 pre paid visa from Bridgestone.
