Default Tyler Auto-X

I now live in Tyler, TX and am jonesing for a local auto-X. I'm an officer with the North Texas S2K Owners Group, so I think I can swing the loan of the equipment and possibly even some help with track design, set-up, and timing operations. I will offer them an overnight stay are the Tees Aquatic Complex in trade. We could even make it an Auto-X followed by a BBQ at the Lake.

I have heard that someone put on an Auto-X in Tyler before, some years ago, but that it wasn't well attended. I think it was done at the Harvey Convention Center (I need to confirm). [Question: Anyone know of another place in Tyler area with a big parking lot without light poles and owners with a good attitude toward cars?]

Who is interested?

hi there Al, you would be correct on the auto x event. yes, it was at the convention center.....but, it was more just a car show than a "event" per say. not alot of people went. but, over the years me and my friends in tyler have evolved from racing down broadway on the weekends to actually track/drag our cars. i am not sure how many few s2k'rs there are on this board from tyler, but i would be willing to bet money i know the greater majority of the car people in tyler. mainly import though, never got with the whole domestic crowd. anyways, when were you wanting to try and set something up? i would love to help out with organizing and bringing cars to "x." just thought i might through my 2 cents in there. also, if you wanna put out a thread on tyler local board.......type in www.track-whores.com that is the local east texas board.- josh

what parking lot are you talking about?

Hey I'm from Tyler too. That sounds badass. I know a lot of people that would be interested in this. Yeah we can try and set something up. I'll help as much as I can too. Not really sure about another parking lot that we can use but since I'm always on the road in the pimped out Geek Squad van I'll keep an eye out. My names Ariel By the way ( yes I know like the mermaid) get it all the time and I'm a dude... no homo. LOL

I have no idea of the time/date. We would need to work around the NTS2KOC's Auto-X schedule and find an available site. Does the Oil Palace lot have light poles (I'll check at lunch)?

The NTS2KOC is doing our Lake Day on 28-Jun, so we might want to combine it with an Auto-X if we can get our act together. Something like, Lake Day on 28-Jun (Sat) with an Auto-X on Sun, 29-Jun.

I am planning on going to the DE event in October, if not also one during the summer.

I drove by on the way to take my dogs to the vet this morning. No light poles, but your right that the pavement quality is poor.

Does anyone remember the surface quality and space available at Harvey Convention Center? I remember the lot being small and very irregular.

Any other sites that you can think of?

There are light poles at Harvey.... it can probably be done there. The only thing I can think is wrong there is the light poles and some loose gravel.

You're right the Goodyear factory may be a good place I go by there on a day to day basis. I'll check it out.
