Default Using a clay bar

Just clay barred my car and I must say I'm impressed with the results. I've never used a clay bar kit before but it was much easier than I had anticipated. I went with the Meguiar

good job. how much time did it roughly take you? I've been really wanting to do that, but haven't had the guts to pull the trigger. I've got some slight swirls that I would love to get rid of. If someone wants to show me the ropes - I would be happy to learn . Here recently, I just purchased some of the good ol' Lexol leather cleaner/protector and 303 vinyl cleaner and completely satisfied with the results.

Its a tedious process but rewarding. I spent a full day on my S when I did mine. Patience is a virtue

What Bobby said!

It took me several nights, but I also didn't have much time to work on it each night. Garage FTW though, especially when the nights get below 60 degrees.

ses, it really isn't that hard to do. You just have to keep checking the clay to make sure you are using a clean piece. You don't want to keep going with too much grit in the clay b/c that's how you will get scratches. The best thing to do is watch videos on youtube and read everything you can in the wash n wax forums. Meguiars has a lot of vids on youtube to show you how to use their products and I'm sure most products will be applied in a similar manner.

I know that sounds overwhelming, but it does take a lot of patience and passion for your ride to do the whole clay bar/polishing process.

I'm always more than happy to help you or anyone else out. I don

We should have a detailing day sometime soon for a hands on experience with products folks may have never used before.

That would be awesome. I'm just a little hesitant on going through the process because I don't want to @#$% anything up because I don't know what I'm doing lol.

See you guys are going the lengthy route, which is good for beginners. Start slow... as you get more familiar with it, you will get faster... However, speed will depend on how much stuff is embedded in the paint. For instance, my car is never really in very bad shape, and I can usually have it clayed in under 2 hours.

Ses, the clay bar process is pretty dummy proof. Follow the instructions in this thread and the clay will actually give you feedback. For instance if it gets hard to slide the clay across the surface, you need to spray more QD (quick detailer). You can actually put your ear close to the clay as your usuing it, and you will actually hear it picking up the crap off of your paint.
The hardest part is just getting started.

Andy (chopper) is the man on this, he taught Mike and I how to do it. I know papa Keith (globallyoff) has this down to so they ask them questions they know there stuff.

*UPDATE*

We are halfway done applying Menzerna Super Intensive Polish to the car. We are going to switch to a more agressive pad for the hood and front bumper.

After that we'll go back over the car with Final Polish and then a nice coat of the FMJ!

Jimmy and I are switching off b/c my arms keep getting tired! LoL

I'm not really sure what products to get!? I've been doing lots of research and am not really sure what I actually need. I've been reading for about an hour and half, still not sure what I need to do to maintain the S. Do you guys use the Porter Cable 7424? I've seen the all-in-one products such AIO and Zaino, the different waxes: synthetic, carnuba, so much to decipher. I just want to get rid of the slight swirls and have protection from the environ as it stays outside all the time.
