Default Anybody out there?

So are there any Tokyo based S2000 owners out there?

Where do you like to go driving? Hakone, Okutama, any others?

Do you know any places where you can take your car on a track for some serious fun?

John

It's pretty quiet in here

I'm not in jpn but car wise you are the luckiest man on the forum I would have thought.

When i was over on holiday was v v jealous of the prices and mods you can do.

Have you been down the the Honda factory to see where your car was born ?

I went to Mazda and Toyota factories when I was there...wow !

Anyway - I hope you get a response soooooon........

I hear that Shinjuku can be nice Seriously, you mean there are places near Tokyo where there's enough open space to use an S2000? My memories of the roads in Tokyo and surrounds are mostly of choking traffic 24/7. When I was living there I didn't even consider getting a car

BTW, have you spoken to tokyo_james? He's the second highest poster here (but I suspect the top poster is cheating) and is on his second S2000 (wrecked the first).

Hi John, I am here in Tokyo ......

Don't really get the car out of Tokyo that much, but we have just taken on a house in Gunma Prefecture, which has some pretty nice roads around there .......

Greetings. I'm new to the S2Ki and a complete novice with forums so I apologise in advance if I insult or mess up in anyway.

With that aside, I am glad there are other S2000 enthusiasts out here in JP. I was feeling lonely out here and my grasp of Japanese lingo is not that great.

I have been visiting this site ever since my S2000 purchase (June 2001) and this has to be the definitive site for all things concerned with this superb car. My compliments to the organisers who made this possible.

Getting to the point, I try to use the motor out as much as I can, but due to work and parking constraints in central Tokyo, I have become the weekend driver since my transfer to Tokyo (April, 2002).

As for good driving spots, I definitely recommend heading to any mountains within reasonable distance for some quality driving time. However, those single lanes (with no overtaking allowed) can be a bummer when you encounter much slower traffic.

I noticed someone recommended Shinjuku? Perhaps I was in the wrong area at the wrong time, but it is only good for "posing" like Ginza or Roppongi, because you are stuck in traffic most of the time.

The Tokyo shuto expressways are really really fun (when clear) and worth the price of 700 yen to use them. However, they tend to be confusing (for me) and a right pain when you miss your exit or take the wrong one during the sensual overload....and yes, I do not have a Navi system there is only my girlfriend to assist me. The Navi system is certainly a wise investment for the future.

A friend of mine recommended Hokkaido for the wide open roads, but that's just too far away for me.

Places that I've driven too: Hakone, Gifu, Nagano, Gunma and Toyama.
They are all scenic and have nice parts to drive.

As for serious track time, I don't know. I will check if there is interest.

That's all for now.

PS. I haven't entered my VIN number, but I own a Yr2000 monte carlo blue with no modifications.

Hi all those in Japan. I'm from Australia and just want to know how much would it be for the optional navigation screen panel? And also how could I get it if I'm still interested? Thanx.

The Navi system in Japan is ( from memory a Y200,000 or US$ 1,700 option) .... not sure about prices as a retro-fit though, sorry ......
