Hi! I'm looking to buy an S2000 in Hong Kong. Any tips on where to start and what to look for? Ideally, I'm looking for an unmodified, late model, base model car. I've looked around online and the cleanest ones seem to be used imports from Japan, but are pretty pricey after tax. I've also heard lots of nightmare stories regarding badly repaired cars or other issues with shady dealers. Would be grateful for any tips!

^doesn't seem to be much action in here lately. There used to be a HK Facebook group, not sure what happened to it though. Good luck on your search!

facebook group is invite only IIRC, the only late model s2k's in HK are all imported. From what i understand only 1999 AP1's are domestic in HK, afterwards they stopped selling them here.

I just returned from Hong Kong earlier this year but if I am not mistaken, there is 100% tax on all vehicle purchases in Hong Kong. No matter how cheap the cost of the car is to purchase locally or import, you are gonna be paying an arm and a leg for taxes.

If that doesn't get you, parking in Hong Kong will. In my opinion, if you are going to purchase a parking spot for an s2000, might as well get a more expensive and luxurious car for your travels in Hong Kong. Most of the time it is stop and go traffic anyways and it sucks driving manual when it's bumper to bumper. If you live near china or the airport, those highways are awesome haha.

On a different note, I recall there being an s2000 that lives on Castle Peak Rd near Sham Tseng. Saw it parked there every time I took the mini bus home.
