Default V-Type

Hi guys,

I have been lurking around your forum as I am in the process of looking into importing from Japan. I know there are a few differences with the cars but came across this one that intrigues me;

The Honda S2000 represents a very good buy in Japan for a number of reasons. Firstly you get a choice of two engine types. The standard car which is equivalent to the UK 240 bhp and the V-type, which has an extra 35 bhp and rev range for its V-tech engine.

I'm stumped, can't find anything on the forums about this. Anyone got a clue, another 35bhp sounds tempting.

the UK forum reckons its or just another name for VGS, what's your say?

I think you maybe mistaken. there is only one engine type offered here in Japan. they only offer the 2.0 liter engine with 9K RPM limit. Also, there is a 180 Kilo speed limiter.

the v-type is only related to the steering. when driving slow, steering is extra sensitive, when driving fast, the steering is less sensitve.

Thanks, I was getting my hopes up there. Looks like these guys in terms of importing dont know the car.

Bity worrying really, you are putting your trust in them bringing over your new toy and they don't even know the engine types.

Guess I will be sniffing around this forum for a bit

we have an add-on accessory that can disable the 180 speed limit, but that left hand brake you mention... that would be difficult to disable.

This is the link for the price list from Honda Japan. You can see that there are basically two cars offered here in Japan. There is the V-type or non-V-type.

One thing that you may want to consider is the in-dash Navigation option. I am sure that the navi-unit will not work in other countries, but it comes with a custom dash. I don't have a picture of my car, but when I take one, I will post it.

It is built into the dash just above the radio. kinda cool, if you can adapt something to fit in there. at very least a TV tuner or DVD player.

Navi dash isn't usable in the UK so would have to do some tweeking on it.

JDM is looking lees of an option I'm afraid, they charge us 25% more for insurance if its a JDM, euro imports are the same as uk though ?!

Going to watch a couple of auctions on Tuesday in Japan to get a better feel.

I would like a midnight blue with beige interior
