Default Advice needed, scammed on eBay, what next?

11 days ago I bought a Pioneer head unit on eBay, paid by PayPal. It has never arrived despite the seller assuring me last week that it has been sent and should be there Friday or Monday at the latest. Since then he is ignoring any communication I send either direct or through eBay.

I have started a PayPal dispute but it does not look like he is going to respond.

I even located the guy and his girlfriend on MySpace, so I registered myself and contacted them both, they have not responded to me but they have both changed their MySpace profiles to private so they got my message!

The guy lives in Warribee, Victoria and thanks to the wonders of online WhitePages I now have his home address and mobile number.

Question is, should I start getting personal with this guy? He is only 20 and is into Commodores, has a turbo'd VR with big chromies on it. He has a very unusual surname so there are not many in Victoria, thought I might call the others to see if any of them are his parents, they might not be impressed by his behaviour if they were to find out.

This is the first time I have ever had an issue on eBay and my blood is boiling!

What would you do?

Send him an invoice via mail.
That'll be subtle enough to let him know that you know where he lives, but not threatening.

send him a letter giving him 21 days to respond to and ask for your money refrund or head unit delivered and ask for his deliverie reciepts. and if not state in your letter you are willing to take it further should make him give into you, if he dosnt then you got 2 ways deal with it your self and get japcab or someone on him haha or take the matter further with the court as you cant rip people of on ebay cause they got proof of purchase and all that stuff. also ask how he sent it and then ring up the posting company to see if you can trace it down if it has been sent. all the best mate

Damn, did someone rational, coherent, and able to use the CAPS LOCK key hijack DNTBLO's account?

Nah, I think he just ripped the CAPS LOCK and Shift keys off his keyboard.

Good idea about the letter, although I think I might try calling his Dad first, especially as the auction stated that his Dad would be sending it.

The paypal dispute is currently in the 10 day waiting period for a response from the seller, if he does not respond they find in my favour by default. Now, whether that means they just pay me the money back or whether they actually go after him to get the money, I'm not sure.

I tried calling the most likely number for his parents but the number had been disconnected, I since discovered which suburb his father lives in and it was not one of the addresses I had, so perhaps they are not listed in Whitepages.

Anyway, a couple of hours of investigative work and I found his Dad's email address, so shot him an email. I also definitely have the sellers mobile number, tried to call but it was not answered and went to voicemail, might try during the day tomorrow.

I just had confirmation through another eBay member who already left negative feedback (they did not pay anything though) and 3 other people have contacted him saying they have not received goods from this seller either.

Anyone here live in Warribee or Melton? Know any bikies?
