Default Fake Bank Cheques !

hey crew

work mate of mine purchased a car from Rick Dameilian last week from their Honda Dealership at Petersham.

When he was asked how he wanted to pay for the car, he told them Bank Cheque.
the salesman asked for 2 forms of photo ID , and location , reciept and name of bank person who issued the cheque + phone number .

My mate though it was weird, but didnt thnk much of it. When he went to pick up the car on Saturday, he asked the salesmen why it was neccessary to have all the bank info + calling bank to verify the cheque, it turns out , a month ago, 2 men on seperate days purchased a Ferrari each and paid with stolen bank cheques !

They had fake drivers licence and the cheques were stolen from a bank and forged.

so here is something else that we need to be looking out for !

I'd have expected people buying Ferrari's to simply wire the cash or use a black amex....

A neighbour has just purchased a Black F430....sexy

I think we're pretty safe. I mean, if you were going to forge a bank cheque would you buy an S2000 or add a 0 and buy a Ferrari?

Don't be so sure, Aus. I have dealt with several cases of stolen bank cheques in my time. They get used for all sorts of purchases, for all sorts of values. Personally, I won't take a bank cheque. I either get the buyer to bring cash to my bank and deposit it directly while I watch, or I go to their bank and watch them instruct the teller to do a TT.

Im not sure about Australia, but in the UK bank cheques take as much time to clear as personal cheques. Forgeries are rife throughout the world, and frankly government agencies are so stupid how difficult is it really to get a drivers licence from them?

Also, unfortunately no dealer would accept a credit card for the agreed price, I tried it with my Amex when I bought my car and they wanted to charge me an extra 5%.
