-Douglas Adams

The wavy lines of a zebra blend in with the wavy lines of the tall grass around it. It doesn't matter that the zebra's stripes are black and white and the lines of the grass are yellow, brown or green, because the zebra's main predator, the lion, is colorblind.

"A man can stand anything except a succession of ordinary days."
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Instead of having a central place to gather oxygen (i.e. lungs) and a transport system (i.e. heart, blood) to deliver the oxygen to all of the cells of the body like humans, insects have a system of fine branching tubes called a tracheal system that delivers the oxygen directly to each cell in the body.

-Will Rogers

A one-way mirror has a reflective coating applied in a very thin, sparse layer -- so thin that it's called a half-silvered surface. The half-silvered surface will reflect about half the light that strikes its surface, while letting the other half go straight through.
