I didn't mind Cho Gao Bar in melbourne central while i was down there.

"Apparently" there are few good bars along/near Kings street...

I like the Croft Institute and Section 8 can be interesting in the evening. Both are small, alternative types.

Gin Palace is nice and moody with olde style furniture and lounges.
Long Room is probably similar to a lot of the Sydney bars in its atmosphere.
Supper Club has the best wine list and opens the latest.
Golden Monkey is ok too.
CQ is big and happening if you want a 'clubbier' atmosphere.

^^^Being a youngan and what not, I can only say that i have been to CQ and Long Room and Long Room would be my pick out of the two. CQ is way too ####ing packed. Long Room is OK for the retro stuff i guess.

My reccomendation for a generally good club would be Seven on Albert Rd, but only if you're sub 25 years old lol

I didn't get a chance to go to Seven, however i went to Eve and Amber Lounge and enjoyed it lol.
