The board said the park authority could not "promote ecological management, sustainable building design, recycled water use, renewable energy and the hosting of international environmental conferences on the one hand, and showcase a motor car race on the other".

Yes, the NSW Government seems confused about which message it wants to send. But then again, everything in the NSW Govt is confused at the moment. Perhaps they need John Della Bosca to organise it and Belinda Neal could be one of the grid girls?

What is the reason why the V8s want to move away from Eastern Creek??

I think one of the reasons is to do with traveling & trying to attracted more people, I would consider it more if it was in homebush rather then eastern creek. I think they want it to be more central to attract more people or maybe a different demographic.

Not sure if its REPLACING Eastern Creek tho.

There's just something about street races. Races at tracks are not considered much of much interest to the general public. Street races on the other hand are an event.

I guess it's also a change for changes sake. Something to blow a horn about.

Anybody drive around the Olympic park on a regular basis? I have a client there and some of the roads are just full of dips. Can't see much of a race happening with roads like that.

I assume the road would have to be re-surfaced.

Yes, and the proposed circuit layout looked VERY ordinary indeed.

It is not a matter of covering a few potholes or road cracks. There are places where the road has dips for 100 meters or so. That would be one super expensive resurfacing.
