Not due to overrev. It was just one of those things. My fluid levels were all fine as of 7 days before the race day, so I'm quite sure it wasn't because of low oil or anything..

Sorry to hear that CC. That's weird though considering you didn't do anything wayward. Got any pics of the damaged motor?

No pics just yet. Car's with my mechanic, but I'll head on up to see him tomorrow or Wednesday to go through the options with him. I'll try to get some pics of the engine then.

hi crazycase,

i checked up the website, no its a complete Spoon J's racing engine! with this engine the only thing i'd be weary of is if it requires rebuilds regularly or if its a drop in replacement that will only require regular servicing.

When my engine popped luckily i was within the 3 month statutory warranty period and honda dropped in a new engine for me. do you still have warranty?

Yes sounds like a pretty catastrophic failure! If you can track down a second hand engine for $3k ish might be a good cheap fix, i guess you could replace 2-3 used engines before you come to the cost of a new one!

There's a 2 J's s2k engines on the website (F20 or F22). The F20c for $6500 requires an exchange, or it's $9500 without an exchange.
The Spoon one isn't on the site, so I'd need to find out all the details first if I decide to follow that route.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Honda warranty. The engine had about 113k km's on it when it went.

if it was me i would get a jap spec f20c cheap from a wrecker, check compression, change the valve spring retainers in it, check or rebuild clutch whilst its out and u should be good to go again

hmm isnt this deja vu for me from about 4yrs ago

Ouch, steep prices. Still, much cheaper than the Spoon/J's option.
