Default Engine Balancing

Hey Everyone,

In the middle of building a new motor. Anyone know of a machine shop that can balance a engine well. I want to balance the Toda 2.2L stroker kit. It's already well balanced, but i want to be able to rev it up higher than the recommended 8000rpm.

your input would be great

Chris

balance is one crucial issue but it's the piston speed that will eventually stuff up your conrod bearings with higher rev

http://www.onlineperformance.com.au/ has built many successful race engines in nsw, might worth a visit infinitys2000

The components should be balanced OK. There is also a balance factor which is the relationship between the rod/piston weight and the counterweights in the crank. Generally the more you want to rev the motor the larger the crank counterweights need to be. If you want to rev harder you need lighter pistons/rods or a heavier crank counterweight. The Toda kit should have optimise this as much as practical already without titanium or a different crank.

Piston speed is also a problem. You will have about twice the stroke and half the revs as a F1 car so your pistons speeds will be ballistic already.

I'm pretty sure the extra capacity and midrange torque will be enough of a boost from where you are today.

Chris.

If you were in Brisbane I'd recommend Engine Engineering. I've had them do several machining/balancing jobs and they got them right first time.

Thanks for all the info people. I think i will leave the kit as is, and install them. See how it goes.

I will upload pics of the port n polished cylinder head soon. Hopefully by the end of year it will be finished.

Glad to hear some else is going with the TODA Stroker.
Did you get the 12.7 or the 8.78 for FI?
I am still waiting for my kit and have not found anyone in the states that is running this kit yet. I would like to hear how you like it when it gets installed.

Just wondering if you are going to sleeve the motor as well. Nothing wrong about strenghening everything so you don't go boom like mentioned above.

I just know this thing is going to haul potatoes.
Good luck and let me know how it works out.

I'e got the 12.7 compression pistons.

As with sleeving the block, will have to see what the machine shop says. Sleeves needs to be order from the US or get Toda to make Customs sleeves for me.

Can't wait until it's all done. Pics will be up soon of the port n polish
