MAD'S Update
Hey guys just a quick post to show that my s2000 has been getting its fair share of attention these days.
Some new mods are in: AP2 rear lights http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9217.jpg Painted headlight washers, new OEM front lip and resprayed front bar due to chips, and rubbing of a non OEM front lip. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9221.jpg Amuse Dual R1 Titanium exhaust: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9211.jpg New canvas roof top: (no wrinkles and top closed first go). http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9203.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9196.jpg Interior upgrades: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9206.jpg Nice driving weather today! http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9227.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i1...8/IMG_9228.jpg Hope everyone is going well! |
Are you going to do the front end facelift aswell?
Is that the new Civic FD2R gear knob? If so is it heavier than stock S2K? |
like the plates.......and the stitching..
looks real good  |
Im have been searching on ebay for the AP2 lights for ages. I won a set and it never came!!!
FDNR knob is about the same weight, it is a touch lower, and takes a bit of gertting used to over the stock knob. |
far out, the car looks great and its come a LooOOnG way from the
OUR-70Y days? haha! we got to catch up for a beer or something! |
Love your work Mad.
How is the Amuse exhaust? Did you do a dyno comparison with stock? |
Thanks guys.
Hey pechs good to see your still on the boards. Mike, the Amuse is really nice, great sound and very light. It is about 20 kilos lighter than the stock peice, thats where the main difference is. I didnt bother with before and after dyno. The Amuse dual is known to be the best dual on the market, with around 6 whp gain. I noticed the car has abit more urge in the 4000rpm range, and the rpm range feels smoother. Also the sound is awesome pre vtec, so you dont need to rev it out to redline to hear the thing. The amuse and the stock exhaust are basically in design the same before the mufflers. The mufflers are large and straight through, that is where it frees it up I guess. Im really happy with the Amuse though, exactly what I wanted, next best would be the fujitsubo, but that isnt as light and I dont like the canisters that are shiney. |
have you married the exhaust up with the FIPK?
|
how much did the exhaust cost you? and where did you get it from?
|
ahh so your the one who's been buying all the goodies! The roof looks awesome too...how do you get rid of the creases!??! ah mine were fixed up but there are still some there...it's driving me nuts!
btw, I think you should remove the windshield tape! that would look much better IMO |
Looks mad!

. . . Again, it looks good mate. When I saw your car in North Sydney, it really stood out - a very well kept NFR. |
car is coming together nicely bro
just missing a set of 20in chromes to give it that X-factor  |

it will give it a leb-factor
|
I just realised that the glass window is smaller, is it because the folding motor mechanism different with 02+ model?
|
Glass window is smaller, due to the roof having to fold down into the parcel tray. The plastic is larger as it can fold in half. I liek it smaller, best looking softtop on the market I reckon.
Thanks for the kind words Mike. |
Also just picked up a Bride Ergo II with black leather, with fabric centre (no gradation) and red stiching. Oohyeah!
Just waiting on the rails. If I like the seat I will get a second to balance the cockpit. They hug like crazy, but are reclinable, and comfy. Very tight fit though, the door, and the console are fully funtioning, no rubbing etc. |
I have a passenger side rail for a Bride seat.

i thought it was the front window frame, but his one is already black and not colour matched to the car...... |
yeh, it's just black tape, you peel it off and then underneath it will be colour matched.
|
ohhh. i think it looks heaps better black....
|
i think black looks better too - especially when the roof is up.
I think 02 model upwards has no black tape |
I dont have the balls to take the tape off, if it looks crap you cant redo it. I reckon it looks great as is, and im sure it would add to the tallness of the car if the red was showing especially when the top is up.
|
I think it makes the car look newer or fresher, definitely makes a difference..
MAD, you are hilarious...you have the balls to cut out metal to install the lights and remove/replace the roof but you can't remove tape! haha looks awesome regardless man |

Have not yet ordered them. I will be going bride rails specific to the S2000, that are bottom mount rails. I will be sourcing them from JDM yard, most likely.
|
May be if someone photoshopped my pic without the tape I would have a better idea.
Stain? |

Wow, he photochopped some chromies on it too!
|
LOL....
i prefer the black tape. |
:iagree:
|
Me too, that doesnt look right at all.
|
Looookin great!! The interior looks top notch and AP2 rear tail lights suit the car very well!
I just got a new exhaust put on my ride too - It's a Rudora advantage, very light and it sounds the goods!! |
ahahahahah LEB factor! i like it.. wats with all the middle eastern and putting for sale signs on their cars?? anyone here middle eastern? Nice car man.
|
Vuey is middle eastern. You wouldn't think it to look at him though.

Well the for sale concept is very simple, the car isn't actually for sale, the reason behind this is for making contact with the opposite sex. Its just another way of handing out your number. I know its sad but its true, some girls are like that and will ring the number. I remember just after the Cronulla riots i went to the beach one day and i seen a guy walking along the beach he looked middle eastern he had his number across his back in sunscreen and below it said "call me" i couldnt help but laugh at his ingenuity. and he wasn't in-shape either. |
haha god damn that is so lame. Who would want to go for a girl who calls up strange men through for sale signs on cars...hahhahaha
|
hahaha sly - never thought of that
|
I wonder if it has ever worked (and highly doubt it).

or do you mean putting the phone number on your back in sunscreen? lol |
Oh I didn't read the bit about sunscreen. That is so lame.
|
Back to the tape issue.
I seem to remember that on some cars the paintwork under the tape was not finished properly. So in removing it, not only do you run the risk that youy dont like the new effect, but also the risk that the surface looks crap. |
back to the phone number deal, but if a stunning chick was to do that, then im sure her phone would ring off the hook
|
Hi Mad..May i ask where do you grt your new glass soft top to replace the old plastic window top ?
How long it takes to conversion ? |
btw..Can you upload a pic of inside your car.because i want to see what is looks like after you replace your old soft top~
Many thanks~ |
You can buy glass window tops from Honda (~$2500) or Robbins in the US (~$900 landed).
Conversion takes about 10 hours (although I reckon Mad could knock one over in 5 these days). |

And many people would be right.
A Robbins top won't fit either, unless you modify the frame. Modifying the frame is a matter of riveting some elastic straps to the bars. Now all these answers are here on this board. It is only a search button away. |
Search is your friend, I have about 3 threads on this Aus section alone about the conversion.
|
I had a look at the topsonline website - wats the difference between the HV and the Stayfast canvas - which is better ?
|
Stayfast is better.

More updates!!!

good work man keep it up! Very nice seat BTW. |
looking clean mate.
do you have trouble getting out of that seat? :) |
Thanks for the comments. I may get another seat to balance the interior, but yes, its harder to get out and that wont appeal to or fit many passengers lol. They are very expensive too. I have other mods to do first.
|
that seat looks cumfy i must admit!!
what are your other mods going to be? |
AP2 headlights, OEM clear indicators, new strikers, wheels undecided on choice yet, possibly another bride seat to match.
I need some track time too! |
looking at these pics ( car is looking tight btw MAD  ) , its really hard to say i have a "fav" colour for the S2000 .
when i was shopping for mine, i loved Silverstone/red , but when i saw the NFR in the flesh , i instantly fell in love and bought it . And MAD's car just re-confirms that . But then i also love our Indy Yellow , but Berlina black is a classic and you cant go pass MCB either. its a great car / shape and looks fking hawwwt in any colour  |
Thanks Vuey, NFR is soo hot. I was going for silverstone/red but am happy with NFR.
Oh and berlina black aint a colour its a full time job! Just ordered Raybrig H1 headlight 4400k hi beam bulbs, and the 4400k parkers white light FTW! |
Haha the Bride seat looks very nice and at home.. it look like the S2K seat but on sTeRoIdS! I like a lot....
Good set of mods coming up MAD And yeah.. the berlina is "a full time job" - but worth the result when looked after |
Oh and BTW... should really invest in some seat locks if you haven't already.
|
Looks bloody awsome man :D
How does the seat hold for a leather? |
Thanks vyets, the leather is not smooth like the oem, and it grips heaps.
I used to take a corner on the way home and have to hold the handbrake to stay in the car lol. Now I can just chuck the car and the seat holds. Makes the car feel more stable, cos you can feel what its doing more under you. I think the centre being mesh helps too, it is really comfy, and you wont sweat as much as you do with leather. The rails cost me $250 and the seat to source new are about $1350 landed. Its a nice compromise seat, comfy and holding at the same time, oh and full access to compartment and no rubbing on the door trim like some. |
did you consider another colour MAD for the seats ?
i would of gone for a mustard yellow !!! would look so hotttttt !!! |
brides are only red, black, or blue. I love the red stitching detail.
