Default VAFC Issues

Maybe some of those technically minded can help answer this question for me.

Since I have had the VAFC installed, a few times after long drives, my S wont hit V-Tec. It feels like it is hitting the rev limiter at 6K. The emmisions light comes on as well.

Once i shut the car down and restart the engine it all goes back to normal.

Can someone tell me wht is going on?

I never had this problem
I found that the VAFC actually allows me to go into VTEC when it's "coldish" where you normally cant actually go into VTEC. If the engine is too cold then I still can't VTEC( and I dont rev it when it's cold anyway)

I think you should check the VAFC harness and make sure that non of the wires has been diconnected or felled out.

As it works after a reset I don't think it's a wiring issue. And it's pretty well wired to as it was a complete harness made by Frogtech.

The fact that the emissions light comes on make me think it is an unrelated problem. Maybe it is running too rich or lean somewhere, this is throwing the emissions light, and the ECU is disabling VTEC as a response.

I took that Emission light as "CEL"
Is there an emission light on the dash?

Yep, its the icon shaped like an engine. I spoke to BD4's who tuned it. They are saying it could be something to do with the temp settings in the VAFC and mentioned that this would only happen on warm days or long drives, which is pretty much true.
Could this be right?

I didn't think the VAFC had any temperature related settings.

I'm beginning to think you shouldn't have gone to BD4's.

you seriously should recheck the ECU harness
the wires are relatively easy to fall off the plug
I had to resolder one of my wire when I hook up the Vortech electronic box. It could be any wires in the ECU and of course did not cause any problem with the VAFC's functions.

Good luck
