This upcoming weekend is the 24 Hours of Le Mans and I thought I would start a thread for us to discuss the race. This year will mark the return of Porsche to the top tier in racing and they do seem to be going all out to win. Audi, I am sure will be determined to stay ahead and keep its winning streak and then there is Toyota with the big push they are making into prototype racing. All said and done it will be a great race to watch.

While the LMP cars will be in a league of their own, the battle in the lower classes will be interesting too. Although the Dodge Vipers wont be making it to Le Mans, the C7R will be and will compete with the 458, 911 and Aston Martin Vantage. In any case, it is time to stock up on your energy drink of choice or even just a Keurig to watch the race and celebrate the winners on Sunday.

I'm rooting for the C7Rs (since I'm a newly minted Corvette owner). They were fun to watch at Long Beach in April.

 

Any word on what network (if any) will be airing this in the US?

For those with jailbroken devices, Eurosport TV is carrying the race on tv in Europe.

 

It seems like every year this race produces some horrific crashes. As most have probably already heard, Audi has already had their big crash for this year. It's a testament to the modern safety equipment that driver's are escaping crashes like this to race another day.



Definitely looking forward to the race. Hopefully the Vettes have their normal strong showing.
