Another Formula One Driver to NASCAR
Its too bad SS never was on a decent team. He performed better Luizi, yet he got the axe. Ah well, another American casualty in the spectacle that is F1. I am sure Speed will do well in NASCAR though, plus with that last name, marketers will have a ball with that.
Why, oh why?
Another shift from the pinnacle of automotive technology and racing to the yee-haw banjo brigade of downright boring cars running in packs around an oval.
They must be paying him some serious bank; if it were me, even that wouldn't be a good enough reason.

Get off it. All these road course fan wankers talking about how oval track racing isn't "real racing" are mainly just showing their ignorance. Who cares what you say you would do if you were a top-level race driver? Might as well talk about what you would do if you were king of the world, because that's not going to happen either.
If you want to know why so many drivers are trying to get into NASCAR, just ask them. Here's what they all say:
1) I want to race a lot. (Many of these NASCAR guys race several races every week for most of the year -- 60-100 races, a far cry from race series with 10-15 races for the entire year.)
2) I want to race against the best drivers. (It's not really debateable that the best drivers in the US are in NASCAR. World-wide, that's not necessarily so.)
3) I want to race on the biggest stage. (Ditto number 2.)
4) I want to race where I have a reasonable chance of winning. (Only four drivers in F1 have a shot on any given weekend, for instance. About half the field has a reasonable chance of a win in a typical NASCAR race.)
ps. Speed just finished in the top-10 of the ARCA Talladega race today. Had a bit of an incident with a few laps to go, though.
pps. If you just don't like watching oval racing thats fine. I don't like lobster. There's no arguing that I should like it; I just don't like it. But I don't confuse my not liking it with the idea that anybody who chooses to make or eat it is wrong.
