Canadian GP
Hello all,
I've recently been made aware that my fiancee (only for 31 more days!!!) is buying two tickets to the 2008 Canadian GP FOR OUR HONEYMOON! I'll be paying for the rest of the trip mind you, but I'm pumped.
Where do we sit? I'm thinking section 12 (might be sold out) or 24.
Is there any way to not get tickets for all three days without going the gen. admission route?
It looks like with the USD like it is, the tickets will cost her a fortune, and i was hoping to spend only a small amount of time there besides raceday.
Thanks for any help, and if this needs to be moved...then sorry.

If you want to save some cash, Grandstand 31 is a good deal. You'll get the cars flying down the strait and down shifting while passing under the Pont des Iles which is an sight to see and hear.
They make you buy all three days of tickets as far as I know. That plus the higher cost of the tickets really made the USGP a great bargain. You could buy race day tickets only at the USGP and the most expensive seats were about 1/2 to 2/3 of the similar race day seat at Canada.
I do not know if ticket resales (ticket brokers or "scalping") happen or if such people even sell just race tickets, but from my experience the race tickets look cheap compared to the hotel accomodations, and one usually has to buy 3-4 nights at large prices per night to stay at most hotels any where near downtown Montreal.
If you do not have hotel accomodations yet I'd seriously focus on getting that taken care of ASAP!
It is a blast and Montreal is a fun time when you are not at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Well, the lodging is looking to be more difficult than expected to come by. Orbitz has some great deals until I click on "continue booking". Then we get a message that the price has changed...and I'm talking 30-60% increase. The best we can do is $2500 USD for two people; this includes airfare and hotel. With $800+ of tickets to the GP that doesn't leave us with anything in the way of spending/emergency money for the trip.
My options now are to get General Admission tickets or wait a year and book earlier.
Has anyone ever done gen. admission there? If it's like Indianapolis in any way (mounds for spectators), then I think I can handle it, but I'd still like some input if it's out there.

anything decent in F1 ain't cheap..
corporate sponsors get the best seats and best paddock access unfortunately.
gen ad areas are pretty poor for visibility.. and certainly not worth the hundreds of dollars spent on hotels and everything else..
its not the greatest organized event on the calendar either.. so take a lot of patience with you.
