Default Ferrari Fans....

When I was at Indy this weekend this thought entered my head, sorta like when Jordan was with the Bulls, was EVERYONE a Bulls fan honestly or just bandwagon jumpers. I only say this because there was a ridiculous amount of Ferrari fans at the race, and some were quite honestly people that barely looked like they could spell Ferrari. I'm just curious because I know we have some true Ferrari fans on the forums and wondered if you guys ever thought these people were bandwagon fans because they know that they win so that is who they pick to pull for. I just can't stand bandwagon fans of any type. Seemed a little crazy or maybe there really are about 10 Ferrari fans for every one of every other team.

Excuse any typo's or confusing sentences... 4 straight days from dusk til dawn in the Indy heat has me swamped!

It's a marque the great unwashed reconize. Race was very boring, big surprise that the French built a tire that must have been puncture proof so at least they could race. Now every Ferrari "fan" has damp panties thinking their all that. Of course they forgot last week didn't they? Let's see how proud they are of Ferrari in 2 weeks at the frog GP.

Just got back to our room a little while ago. Stands were pretty empty. And God bless my wife for securing my arrangements again this year because speaking of the great unwashed they sure looked hot out in the exposed grand stands , fvck that. A suite for me or nothing ,they looked fvcking hot.

Red has been the primary color in Indy since year one. Now however when you look in the booths it's pretty much half red and half blue

I think there are a lot of Ferrari fans because 1) Ferrari does win 2)Most American's don't know what the hell Renault is. You say most of the Ferrari fans probably couldn't spell Ferrari - try to get them to pronounce Renault. Plus, Ferrari represents this great racing herritage. I respect them because their passion for racing is displayed in everything they do - and if I didn't think Honda was the same, I'd probably cheer for Ferrari as well.

Oh I agree Ferrari is rich in racing history, and I expect a lot of fans in general but it is nice to see some diversity in the stands. Maybe if I ownded a Ferrari I could pull for them, but I think Honda has a good grip on me.

I won't even begin to get into the mispronunciation of teams like Renault either, or some of the drivers names.

I do think a great deal of the Ferrari fans are 'on the bandwagon'. Almost every other vendor was selling something Ferrari as well - that too adds to the sales. PLUS a lot of the Ferrari merchandise was reasonably priced. I say reasonably - with tongue in cheek - but certainly by comparison to other mfg'rs it was very reasonable. I had planned to buy a Honda F1 shirt or cap or both................ until I priced them. $115 for the shirt and $40 for the cap. Another F1 total rip off. So I didn't buy either. I could easily afford them but I won't support that kinda robbery.

What were the Ferrari prices like in comparison? I saw some merch that I would have liked, but I couldn't justify the cost either.

I saw a lot Ferrari stuff in the $20 range - caps, shirts, etc. I saw a really nice heavy winter coat for $89 but I passed on it.

Wow. Even though I'm a Ferrari fan, I refuse to wear any of the merch because of the bandwagon thing. I don't want to be part of the red sea. I'm glad I didn't know things were so cheap though, or else I may have reconsidered!

The Mclaren/Merc rugby shirt was very sharp this year, dark grey with red stripes. I also liked the Sauber and Williams merch.
