Season didn't start and they have one laid out already.

Wait until they get licked by the lollipop

"Who, like us and our main competitors, was working until the last moment on the development of the 2008 car, might have a slight disadvantage compared to those who gave up last year and dedicated themselves and their resources to a new project," Domenicali said."

Sounds like he means Honda so maybe those times are really that good.

guess it just goes with the terrible burden of being a contender.

Although I don't recall seeing McClaren whining about not being competitive becuase they competed and won the championship.

ferrari is just saying that the field is so much closer and some teams were able to start ahead of them and mclaren. mclaren admitted that they dont have the pace to compete, so mclaren know they are at a disadvantage. how is that not whining? i am not trying to instigate anything, but both mclaren and ferrari arent making excuses. both teams are trying ways to minimize this disadvantage over the other teams. this just my $0.02

Oh no....they are definitely laying groundwork for excuses. What else do you call this? Friendly banter?

I believe both Ferrari and McLaren are offering up excuses. If you watch testing, you will note that Toyota and BMW are real strong, as well as Brawn. In fact, I find Toyota's pace in testing equally as impressive as Brawn's. They are fast....as fast or faster than Ferrari. BMW is also consistently at the top of the sheets as well.

I think, Ferrari and McLaren rested on their laurels and were caught off guard. They had just as much time as everyone else to prepare, instead they ARE INDEED offering up excuses right now. However, Melbourne is where its at...so we shall see.

u see it one way and i see it another haha, but we will all agree that melbourne is where a lot of questions will be answered. maybe mclaren and ferrari are playing psychological games with rest, but highly unlikely. mclaren and ferrari should be able to improve their cars to make up for whatever "disadvantage" they have by melbourne.

i am not too surprised about toyota or bmw because both teams had strong cars last season. yes this years car is built from scratch, but i believe a lot can be learned throughout a season to put input into a new car. Brawn is the biggest surprise. i did not known they started preparing their 09 car since the middle of the 07 season. i thought it was at the beginning of the 08 season be4 the other teams? they will be a threat.

They won one championship only, and are you sure they are not complaining????
I recently read an article titled "McLaren in Emergency talks over performance" and "We aren't fast enough" and "Lewis Hamilton 'in trouble' as McLaren falter"

Complaining or crying.... they are synonomis

They can make all the excuses/explanations they want, as long as they lose.

McLaren is having trouble with downforce. Read the F1 news. They ****ed up their wing design. I don't know if they will have a fix in time for Melbourne.

both the front and especially the rear wing look way different than the rest of the teams. im not an expert in aerodynamics but i feel that they focused on the looks more than the go!
