FOTA teams walk out of meeting on 2010 F1 rules
Wed Jul 8, 2009 9:53pm IST
LONDON (Reuters) - The eight members of the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) walked out of a meeting with the sport's governing body on Wednesday at which they had been due to discuss next year's rules.
"The eight FOTA teams were invited to attend the meeting to discuss their further proposals for 2010. Unfortunately, no discussion was possible because FOTA walked out of the meeting," the International Automobile Federation (FIA) said in a statement.
FOTA, led by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, had threatened to form their own breakaway championship until a deal was agreed with the FIA last month.
The three new teams, plus Williams and Force India who are suspended from FOTA, did attend the technical working group meeting at the Nuerburgring ahead of Sunday's German Grand Prix.
