I thought this was a great read, I had no idea about this - "Another innovation for 2009 is adjustable wings. Drivers can change the position of flaps in their front wings by six degrees twice per lap."

The front wing thing is misleading I think. They can move it twice, which means flatten it once, and return it once. One complete cycle.
I don't see that being a "passing" tool though. Every driver is going to flatten it on the longest straight and raise it back up for the twisties. I'm interested to see how the manufacturers are going to try and manipulate that rule. Does it specify if they can only rotate on one axis?
Also, doesn anybody know if it's a mechanical control or electric/hydraulic?

More convoluted and unnecessarily complicated "rules" from the powers that be. Freaking absurd.
These new wings are ridiculous, and allowing changes but limiting it to two changes per lap is even more so.
Not watching this year, DONE with F1.

I think that if they have these 'improvements', use them. Don't limit it to once or twice a lap, USE IT!!!
Bring some strategy into this snoozefest.

The things that keep going through my mind is if we the average joe sitting in front of a TV is going to be able to see any of this- adjustable wings, KERS boost of power, or even different tire compounds (hard to paint the grooves white on slicks).

Right now I'm not having a problem with any of these new changes, I'm keeping an open mind and will for sure not jump off the bridge like ZDan has. The time for me to judge these new rules will be about mid-season, by then all the teams will most likely have the bugs worked out, maybe the FIA will have the rules worked out, and I will be able to see how they actually effect the racing; only then will I judge.

on a side note, we here in canada are going to be getting bbc coverage
The very nature of rules like:
Instead of *allowing* different tire compounds to be run during a race, MANDATING that two compounds MUST be run.
and
Instead of just *allowing* multiple wing settings, they have to restrict it to "twice per lap".
The nature of F1 rules has become more and more fascist and totalitarian over the years. Of course Mosley is a Nazi fetishist...
