The safety car is going as fast as it possibly can in order to allow the field to be able to maintain heat in the tires, cool the engine and not add glaze to the brake discs. Add the wet conditions and the safety car slows down and makes it very difficult for the field to keep in order. the drivers need to get together into a rhythm of speed up slow down to avoid these accidents.

I recall Schumi doing this speed up slow down in the tunnel at Monaco and getting tagged by Montoya. Charlie Whitting should get penalized for not calling an end to the race earlier on.

Exactly, he wasn't doing anything that the other drivers weren't doing. People just like to hate _______ (insert name of anyone doing well, in this case LH) and are looking for more scandals.

I saw all of the drivers nailing the brakes hard behind the safety car. Due to the amount of time they spent behind it during the race they were doing so to keep heat in their brakes. Vettel just slipped up and wasn't paying attention. To blame the car two cars ahead is ridiculous and grasping at straws.

FIA shouldn't penalize Vettel, but his team sure should. The almighty replacement for Scott Speed isn't turning out to be as hot as all the talking heads make him out to be is he?

By the way the discussion is moot at this point.

Stewards have decided not to penalize him (duh).

Yup. And Vettel's penalty has been reduced to a reprimand.
Wow. A reasonable decision by the folks in F1? Who'd a thunk?

Typical FIA. I didn't agree with the penalty to begin with but if your gonna make a ruling you should stick with it.

Hahaha is anyone who watches this sport ever happy with anything?

If they make the right decision (after investigating a ridiculous claim simply because one of the teams probably forced them to) now they're indecisive?

The governing body of F1 shouldn't be "forced" by anyone to make rulings. Indecisiveness just further erodes their credibility.

Sorry, I'm not laughing at you, I'm just laughing at those 2 words. It's like when in hell have they actually had credibility??? My disdain for the FIA and Bernie has no bounds.

Yea that seems to be the general consensus of F1 fans but yet Mad Max is still at the reigns. Go figure.
