I agree IMO it is the driver's responsibility to know the condition of his car, including tires, and inform his team of problems!

He could do it like DC does, dripping with sarcasm...

Yep, I'll agree -- big screw-up! I also wondered why LH didn't apply more steering on pit entry but I'm not thinking politics. I know why he didn't apply more power in the gravel. He didn't want to impact the wall but, in hindsight, it was all-or-nothing. What was up with the turn marshals? They couldn't manage to push it back on track? I don't think they all pushed at the same time. Triple, you're right about his lap times. Why in heck didn't they bring him in a lap or two sooner?

FM. He did have the opportunity to help KR more. I was VERY surprised he didn't manage to pass FA on his out-lap.

How about that weather report? I didn't think anywhere had more messed up forecasts than So Cal but now I know, China has worse. "Rain is coming... coming... coming... okay, go to drys." it made for great drama on the first pit rotations, where you knew whoever came in first would be screwed by rain. Too bad it never happened.

edit -- Oh yeah - is Brazil going to be exciting or what?!

This just makes the McCheaters look even worse...
In my book ya don't ignore the tire engineers.

Bridgestone tyre technicians last night revealed that McLaren ignored their advice to bring Lewis Hamilton into the pits two laps before his race ended when he skidded off the Shanghai track into a gravel trap. The championship leader had been struggling to keep his car on the track for some time, his tyres clearly shredding and worn flat.

Yeah, they should have brought him in a lap or even two sooner. They were waiting for it to either definitely start raining or definitely stop raining, but the fear of making a decision cost them.

I think Hamilton just lost concentration.

I was on the edge of my seat for most of the race, the weather reports were just another part of the great drama. Rain in 5-minutes, look at watch, it's now been 7, what's up... Incredible race.

So does this mean the Stewards will levey a fine against the weathermen and the FIA will call a council meeting to decide if the penalty is just?

What makes you think he didn't? Obviously he was aware that his car was all over the track. Maybe he'd already asked to come in for new tires, but maybe the team asked him to stay out until they could make a determination on the weather. Without actually knowing what was said on the radio, it's all conjecture.

I think it's obvious that the weather is biased in favor of Ferarri.

I nearly sent the coffee up my nose on that one...
