Default KERS to return, well to some teams that is...

I think it would have been nice to see the max power limit increased, but I understand how by not doing that it makes it more likely for all the teams to take advantage of this technology.

I'm happy to see its return, F1 needs to show green can be a part of racing!

IMO, KERS is a bad idea, unless the idea is to make F1 much more expensive while at the same time ensuring there's greater performance disparity between teams.

Adjustable wings = also a bad idea. Better way to increase overtaking: Much smaller wings, with less camber, fewer elements, reduced endplates, and MUCH narrower front wing, with limited underbody venturi tunnels allowed to make up *some* of the lost downforce. *THEN* the cars would actually be able to race each other nose-to-tail without resorting to still more retarded gimmicks.

I still think they ought to change the engines to be green... 1.5l turbo 4cyl on methanol/e85.

You know the ultimate green engine was one that Nikola Tesla made. It weighed 100 pounds and made 1000hp. Yep...you read that right. Research the man. He was probably the smartest being ever to walk the face of the earth. Oh...it ran on water too. How you like them apples? Big Oil before it was Big Oil made sure that his inventions never saw light of day. Shame....but you can bet the government has been developing this stuff...oh no doubt. They're generations ahead. Trillions for defense and space...where do you think it all goes? Oh yes...some does go up these peoples' noses in the form of cocaine, for sure.

Go ahead and build one then. I'm sure the patents have expired.

I'd love to see a quantification of just how more green a KERS equipped F1 car is. In other words, how much less fuel is required over a race distance?

Several people have....odd thing is...they turn up dead soon after or during the process of manufacture. Things that make you go hmmm.

No source, no credit.

Wait, you mean Tesla's turbine engine? Umm, it will run on water in the same sense that Hoover dam runs on water. And if you want to use gasoline as fuel, well, while there might be ways with the proper materials to make it more efficient than normal bladed turbines (at 60% to 95% effecient) it's still pretty close to that efficiency (60% to 70%.) So it might be a good development for a natural gas power generator, or hydrostatic dam power generator, or an airplane's APU, but it's unlikely you'll ever see one in a car.

Anyway, I still want to know if the F1 KERS systems are set up to actually save fuel, or just to allow additional performance at current fuel consumption levels. (Which amounts to the same thing, basically, I'm just curious.) And by what degree.
