Default Koni Challenge...

Why is Turner Racing still running an e46 BMW?

Is the e46 better than the e92 for racing?

It's all sorted out, unlike the brand spanking new E92. I am sure they'll have one too.

I just figured that Turner is a well known BMW racer that BMW would have given them a couple of e92's to build before the season.

I'm surprised they are faster than the V8 e92's from what I saw today.

I'm not. The E46 is a known quantity and is fully developed. It is also lighter from what I understand. The E92 might not be as balanced as the old car so that right there is a penalty, and the package is just really green. Just because something is new, doesn't necessarily mean it will be better.

Let me analogize it this way.....would you rather go to battle with a grizzled Navy SEAL vet who is 40 years old (E46 M3), or a fresh faced 18 or 19 year old USMC (E92 M3) straight from Camp Lejeune?

The 19 yr. old. He's more expendable, and if he survives and gets more experience, he can become 40 year old with cut teeth.

Turner is racing and developing the E92 chassis in the ST class. I'm sure that once their homework is done on that car they will transfer most of it over to the GS class.

And, believe me, BMW is giving NOTHING to Turner Motorsports. BMW's support for American racing is seriously lacking.

Whereas the Honda and GM boys enjoy an almost backdoor factory effort BMW is absent - at least in the Koni ranks.
