I dont agree with the way they're doing it but trying to encourage drivers to win races is not a bad idea. A 12-7-5-4-3-2-1 might have been a better alternative but whatever.
Or just turn back the clock and go back to 10-6-4-3-2-1? But then no points to 8th place...Back then, guys did go for the win because of the 4 point spread between first and second place.
