Red face Should Sauber be on the grid next year?

BMW Sauber in their current form will be running their last race as a team this weekend. What happens next is still unknown?

I know this season has been full of ups and downs and given those of us rooting for backmarkers plenty to cheer about. That said it will be sad (for me) to see this team go down and not make it on the grid next season.

I can still vividly recall Kubica's crash in Montreal and then in joy as I saw them coming in to picture perfect 1-2 finish at the same venue last year. I also remember Robert getting into the car in his debut race and scoring in the points although he was disqualified. This was also the team that gave young SV his dream break at Indy and boy has he been impressive.

So while my loyalties lie with Honda and by virtue of the passage of time currently with Brawn, as a racing fan I will be sad to see these guys make a sad exit.

What do the rest of you think? Express your tributes or frustrations here but please keep things civil. Danke!

i'd definitely like to see them on the grid next year, but i don't think it's going to happen. it sounds like some of the other teams are being dicks about letting them in.

^^ Frank Williams and the Williams boys are being grumps and objecting to their participation. I hope Sauber will be there come March 2010

^^ Hey the more the merrier. With 26 cars on the grid already, whats the big deal having 2 more if it means a long-term team still gets to be there.

I like your attitude. Hopefully the FIA will also see it from that perspective.

^^ I think the FIA would want them to be on the grid, but the rules dictate that all the other teams must agree. Williams has been vocal about their choice, dont know about the others.

I think its unfortunate how this whole thing went down for the team and it is particularly sad to see BMW not doing the right thing by their team, the way Honda did when they exited F1. Honda chose the right management team that could keep the F1 circus going and sent them on their way with a generous parting gift.

Even if they "had to" punt off 1 of the new entries to "make room" for Sauber on the gird, I would still have no problem whatsoever --- Sauber deserves a spot in F1!!!

I wish Jordan didn't have to pack up his team, not that I am a huge fan of Eddie Jordon or anything like that... mostly I miss the Mugen days...
