Singapore ready for F1's first night race
Thursday, October 25th 2007, 06:57 GMT
Singapore is ready to hold Formula One's first night race after being given the green light from the FIA, the promoter of the race said on Thursday.
The World Motor Sports Council has yesterday approved the night race, which is scheduled for September 28th on public roads around the downtown Marina Bay area, also making it Formula One's first street race in Asia.
"With two positive lighting tests under our belt, we are on track to delivering the first night race," Colin Syn, deputy chairman of the promoter, said in the statement.
The go-ahead follows FIA approval last month to build the planned 5.067km Singapore circuit. The city-state agreed a five-year deal for the race in May.
