Honda to pull plug on Super Aguri?
11 December, 2007

The fate of the Super Aguri team will be discussed this week, reports from Germany suggest.
Auto Motor und Sport claims that Honda, the engine and chassis supplier that heavily subsidised the Leafield based team's flagging budget in 2007, could pull the plug on Super Aguri.
Aguri Suzuki-led Super Aguri, despite scoring four points this year, failed to attract lucrative sponsors and actually lost its main backer SS United mid-season.

The publication claims that Honda paid for 'more than half' of the satellite team's bills in 2007 - a situation that will reportedly be discussed by chiefs of the Japanese manufacturer this week.

Should have been done before and spent all that money on the main team. Finally coming to their senses I guess. But then, Honda should simply be an engine supplier like the glory days of late 80s and early 90s.

I am not sure why but the Japs never seem to get the whole package right, maybe RB might make a difference, doubt it though.

If you need someone to cut your head off before you shriek in pain, I would be honored to be your decapitator.

POPEYE, you can Honorably put the Katana away:

Honda officials have decided to keep the satellite Formula One team Super Aguri up and racing in 2008, it is reported.

The fate of the financially struggling team was discussed by Tokyo chiefs earlier this week according to Auto Motor und Sport.

It is understood that Honda, the small Leafield based outfit's engine and chassis supplier, heavily subsidised the Super Aguri budget in 2007.

Despite speculation that the manufacturer could simply pull the plug the Honda meeting resolved that Super Aguri will continue to compete in 2008.

However, the detail of Super Aguri's continuing Honda support remains unclear, including whether the team will ultimately need to be sold to investors.

The magazine said the situation is currently 'completely open'.
