Interesting - read this first.
Now I have read a lot about how the V8 engines are way slower than the V10s of 2005, so I pulled the fastet lap time from Bahrain if 2005 and came up with this - De la Rosa, 1:31.447. Knowing full well there is no way to compare apples to apples here, but the difference in this example is clearly not huge...

November 20th 2005, 16:24 GMT
Ferrari continued testing at Bahrain today, focusing on their engine development programme ahead of the 2006 season. Italian Luca Badoer was behind the wheel of a modified F2005 while Spaniard Marc Gene was at the wheel of an F2004 that was fitted with a V8 engine.
Both drivers worked with fuel and lubricants supplier Shell on engine testing as well as with Bridgestone on tyre development. Gene {V8} covered a total of 87 lap with the fastest time of 1:34.807. Badoer {detuned V10} covered a total of 86 laps, with a best time of 1:35.477. The two continue testing tomorrow at the Sakhir circuit.
