clarkster009 Build Evolution
I don't think I've ever really posted much of a "build" for my S2000, but I have had it since 2006 so I figured now's a good time as ever.
I had it a few years and left it as stock, other than stereo mod. Then, Vivid Racing had some Advan Model 5s for $1050 shipped. They were 17x9 +45 so the size wasn't really ideal for me, but I couldn't pass them up as I loved the design as well as the SBC like finish. I mildly rolled my fenders, and didn't lower it, so I never had any issues, but I could tell it was still rubbing on large dips and stuff.

I was basically driving it like that a year or two more. I bought some Downforce fenders yet never went through with installing them:

I also bought an ASM header, yet never installed it:

Then, I was talking to my mechanic and he was telling me how fun the track is. I decided I would go through with installing a roll bar, so I ordered a Hard Dog. I decided that it would be best to learn on stock wheels, so I sold my Advans, and put new tires on the stock wheels. I saw a paint kit for "black chrome", and decided what the hell, I would give it a shot on the stock wheels. It was supposed to look like this spoon:

However, disaster:

It did not stick at all, and even though I tried to wipe it off immediately, it was too late. So I decided to sand them and then used an actual wheel paint, a gunmetal color:

I also installed stainless lines, fluid, and Hawk HP+ pads. I did my first day and although I was really overwhelmed and slow, I was hooked!
My next mod, although not particularly needed yet, was KW V3s. I found a deal on a new set before the pricing increase that I couldn't pass up. I did notice that the body roll was much less noticeable, however, I'm sure I could have gone a lot more track days before hitting limits of the stock suspension.

I also installed "trick" carbon fiber to help me go faster

Track day:

I went to only one track day in 2011, and two or so maybe in 2012 I think.
One day I was being a "visionary" and doodling, and had an idea of making NACA duct brake ducting.

So I did, lol:

Things are a little blurry, but I guess in 2012 I was approved for my first "solo" session, I felt pretty proud about that so I took a picture:

Then 2013 came. I had some lightly used Advan AD08 tires I had been lugging around for a couple years so I decided to go ahead and go through all the crap to use them finally. I had my fenders rolled a little more, and cut some of the fender liner. I also bought some Enkei SBC RPF1 wheels (I'm kinda obsessed with SBC!) in 17x9 +45 wheels to mount them on. I also bought some used J's camber joints to get the additional front camber, and an Eibach sway bar to balance out any additional oversteer.

I broke up with my girlfriend, and did a lot more track days that year. I think about 26 total. I have pictures somewhere but I need to upload them.
At some point in 2013, I bought a used trunk with an APR wing installed on it, and put that on. I also got two used Recaros, and some Taitec seat rails. As is my M.O., I never installed them

In the winter of 2013 I got the bright idea to go forced induction, since one of my buddies (Mike, cough) said a used Greddy kit could be an inexpensive way to get started, and then upgrade as needed. So I bought the Greddy turbo kit and installed it, along with a Mishimoto oil cooler.

I also decided I may go with a BBK at some point, so I regretfully sold the Enkeis and bought WedsSport TC105N in 17x9 +49. I like these about as much though.

I also got a hardtop a couple years ago, but as my M.O., haven't installed it:

Anyways, I only did two track days in 2014, because I was out of work a period, plus the turbo was not reliable enough. I would hit 100 deg Celsius, and also had an issue with power cutting out as soon as hitting VTEC (which is awesome midturn on track).
So end of last year, I yanked the turbo off and sold it. I decided I would rather just get back to the track instead of try and solve the heat issues. Maybe next year I can try FI again...
Over this last winter, other than pulling off the turbo, I decided I would use the money for better brakes, so I got a Stoptech front and rear kit:

I also started dating a new girl who wanted me to be really safe, plus I saw enough crash videos on YouTube, so I decided to get seats and harnesses. I got OMP Champ-R seats and Schroth Hybrid II harnesses.

In terms of next plans, I want to get back to driving. I have a track day next weekend. I also got a used CFRP/FRP J's Racing hood, that (of course!) I haven't installed. I would like to maybe get a lip, or front and rear bumpers and do a respray (since the hood is CF, my roof is unpainted, and my used trunk is white). Other ideas would be Spoon or Mugen engine and trans mounts, possibly diff mounts. I also may get a new clutch at some point as my car has surpassed 100K miles. Even though they may not make a hugely noticeable difference, I will probably also try getting a splitter and diffuser at some point. Then, this winter I will consider whether I want to try and add any power in the form of FI again. I also may just go ahead and add some bolt ons for sound purposes. I do have a BNIB AEM V2 sitting uninstalled (again, my M.O. lol)

Nice work - perfect track build. I'm really digging the F+R BBK. If I wasn't such a pansy about giving up my e-brake, I'd have done it too. I'm not ready to do it yet, though.
I'd look into a baffled pan if you don't already have one.
Additionally, if you're big on safety, make sure you get some sort of HNR to go with the harness.
Good luck and keep it shiny side up.
This is my favorite, part. LOL! Same happened to me when I bought my s2k. I did 15 track days that year and about 30 snowboarding days in that same year. Fun times

I HIGHLY recommend getting out on track, you can't push the limits of the car the sane way on the street. All you really need to start is good pads, lines, fluid, and tires (well just decent tread, it's advantageous to start out on average tires because they provide a lot of feedback as you approach the limits. I started on Hankook V12s). Depending on where you live, you might be able to find an event to run without needing a roll bar, to get a taste first. Let me know how it goes!

Ohh yeah, I forgot, I also do have a Canton oil pan I need to install (typical haha). I do have an HNR, but a Defendr, not a HANS.
The other part I just installed I forgot to mention is an ETD.
LOL, yeah, that's one positive thing about being single...free time and more money. This girl I'm with now says she doesn't care how many track days I do but I'm kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop, haha.

Thanks for the comments! Any track days planned for you?
Nice thread Kev.
In my defense I still think the greddy kit isn't a terrible option for a track car, you just had some strange vtec issues (should've installed that AEM) and never upgraded to a water cooled turbo.
All in all though, FI is a pita. You can't beat the reliability/headache free nature of N/A. I say just stick N/A for a little while and enjoy driving.
