I'm several updates behind, so I thought I'd take some time and try to bring my thread current.

8/30/2014 Tech Day @ ADRS2K

Adrs2k invited me an s2k4life_az over to his place to do some maintenance and upgrades to the CR. With the car close to 94,000 miles I figured it couldn't hurt to swap the brake lines for SOS stainless steel braided lines.

The fluid also needed a flush badly. It was replaced with OEM fluid for the time being.

While the lines were being swapped and the wheels were already off of the car I decided they needed a cleaning. They had six years worth of dirt and brake dust build up, not to mention wheel weight sticky strips from probably every set of weights that has been on the wheels. There was also some damage from the morons at the tires shops that use a screwdriver or something similar to remove the wheel weights. God forbid that people you pay to do a job actually take car of your property.

To get the wheels clean I used the following:

Griots Garage Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner
Tarminator Tar Remover
Redmax Heavy Duty Degreaser (Cut with Distilled Water)
Soft Wheel Brush (Wheel Face)
Stiff Bristle Brush (Wheel Barrels)
Plastic Scraper
Microfiber Towels

While the wheels were already off and the car still up on jack stands, I also wanted to get the fender liners cleaned. Just like the wheels they were filthy.

I used the following to clean the fender liners:

Griots Garage Undercarriage Spray
Redmax Heavy Duty Degreaser (Cut with Distilled Water)
Soft Wheel Brush
Stiff Bristle Brush
Microfiber Towels

Here you can see the liners still wet with the Griot's Undercarriage Spray:

And here they are dry:

The drivers side tail light had a crack in it, so that was replaced with a new one. I have no idea how the original owner managed to crack the tail light like that and not damage the bumper, so I'll just be thankful.

That's pretty much it for that day. I brought along a SOS stainless clutch line, new brake master cylinder, and new slave cylinder but we ran out of time to install them.

I want to give a huge thank you to Sandeep and Adam for all of the help and hospitality!

I want to give Adam a shout out for all of his wonderful pictures as well. He was kind enough to take them, edit a few, and throw them all on a CD for me to upload. I can not tell you how much I appreciate being able to document my refurbishing this car with your awesome pictures.

A few more pictures because I have them and like them:

You'll notice the engine bay in those pics is fairly clean, by this point I has spent a few hours going through the engine cleaning it up, but that update is going to have to wait until I post all of the detailing pictures along with the write up.

09.06.2014 - Tech Day @ s2k4life_az

The following weekend we all decided to meet up at Sandeep's house to swap all three CRs onto the same set of wheels and get a feel for the different suspensions we were all running. I was stock, s2k4life_az was on OEM shocks w/Swift Spec R's, and Adrs2k is on KW Clubsports. We got through two of the cars, but at the end of the day we had one of the awesome Arizona dust storms roll in and called it quits.

While we were swapping wheels around I took the opportunity to swap out my OEM catalytic converter and O2 sensor to OEM replacements. Before I had bought the car it had thrown a check engine light for the O2 sensor, and the previous owner purchased the sensor but didn't have time to replace it. We had attempted to replace it the weekend prior at Adams hoever upon removal of the sensor we noticed something odd...

Apparently the honeycomb on the catalytic converter had broken loose and slid forward and sheered off the top part of the O2 sensor. So we put the broken sensor back and left it. This weekend I came prepared and brought the spare catalytic converter from my car parts room to swap as well.

You can see the honeycomb is pretty far out of place, I'd say it had shifted at least an inch forward.

Other than that there wasn't a ton that I did to my car that day. I did throw a coat of sealant on the wheels while they were off, but I didn't take any pictures of that. We did however take a bunch of pictures with all of the CR's in the garage so I thought I'd share those.

Adam also snaped a few pictures of my car while it was up on jack stands.

These are mostly Adams pictures again, and the super awesome garage is Sandeeps. When I grow up I want a garage just like his.

I'm starting to get very excited about how the car is coming along. I also want to add that white CR looks so damn boring without all the extra badging. The original owner had removed it for some reason so that's going to be one of the next items on the list to deal with.
