Keeping it simple - BB AP2 build
Current Look:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c608b02e_b.jpg I've wanted an S2000 for about a decade now (hence my join date), but things never lined up and I kept adding more and more to my previous car to the point where I felt like I couldn't let go of it. It ended up being a car I didn't drive very often and I felt it was a waste of a second/toy car. Finally decided enough was enough this year. A friend was selling his 2009 S2000 around the same time I was starting to look and finally was able to fulfill this decade old dream of mine. Some of you might recognize Dan's car: https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8812/2...9cd2eb23_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2817/3...e47ab92f_b.jpg Someone local picked up all his mods and I got the car pretty much stock, with the exception of a PLM header. I don't intend to do too much to the S2. Trying to keep it relatively simple, take my time with it and just enjoy driving again. My blank slate: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4245/3...2e1a0583_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4177/3...991cccbd_b.jpg |
I did pick up a few things prior to buying an S2000, kinda forced myself to stick to the goal.
ARC exhaust ARC intake ARC rad plate ARC spark plug cover And I had a couple things I've collected over the years that I could use on the car. ASM stubby antenna Mugen oil cap Mugen rad cap Backyard Special titanium shift knob https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4170/3...2081d907_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4167/3...fb1d4eed_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4248/3...fa2298bd_b.jpg Don't have any shots of the other parts but I'll update the thread periodically. Probably won't end up installing the exhaust and intake anytime soon, looking at getting a set of coilovers first and spacing the stock wheels out for this year. Trying to enjoy the car relatively stock for a year before doing much. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4163/3...54b6c343_b.jpg |

You'll change your mind after that year - I think we all do.
I thought I would keep the car stock with just OEM+ mods but that plan went out the window lol... ENJOY and hope to see you at the monthly / cruises here in the GTA |

One of the things that really bothered me with the car were the rusty calipers, so I freshened them up today https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4211/3...528414cc_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4265/3...108da4db_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4242/3...e862e989_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4229/3...04b4396e_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4211/3...9b1e09a8_b.jpg |
Man looked good with the regas. Brakes turned out great. Did you take the calipers off to paint?
|
Car looks awesome. I always wanted a BB ap2.
If you are interested in selling your wheels in the future, PM me please. |

Got a nice package in the mail today, BYS seat rail for the stock driver seat and a Zoom Monaco rear view mirror. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4256/3...3cb7dee2_o.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4273/3...a03ab5a3_o.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4271/3...4be504d4_o.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4285/3...b21c1dbe_o.jpg |
Looks great! Where did you order your BYS seat rail from? Are you happy with it? I have been back and forth about ordering one.

Got the BYS seat rail installed. It lowers the stock seat by 20mm, doesn't seem like much but makes a world of difference to me in seating position.

Lowered the car on Tein Flex Z over the weekend, haven't driven too much yet but so far I'm really happy with the quality and comfort. Maybe my expectations were set really low, given the low price point of these coils.

Man, the ARC plate looks so much nicer in a black engine bay, especially with the OEM intake box. Just absolutely perfect IMO.

Update - went to a lapping day over the weekend and my buddy took the car on a bit of an offroad excursion, cracking the front lip. Going to run lipless for awhile. On the plus side though, got the oem premium floor mats in the mail yesterday. Sprayed some scotchgard on it and will install once it dries. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4294/3...9af6e211_o.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4292/3...da04f1af_o.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4291/3...6a916cc4_o.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4316/3...48fa5836_o.jpg |
Ah thanks for reminding me about scotchgard! Lol. Bought same mats, so will need that to keep it in mint condition :)
|
Please learn me how to install them. I've had mine sitting around for a year & too afraid of cutting haphazardly to install :O

Looks clean, even without the lip. Love the ride height. I just bought those two piece floor mats too, but I just set them in the car for now. I was a little afraid of cutting too. Good to know it was easy.
Extended studs on the front only? |

New wheels before the season ends in Canada
Advan RZ 17x8.5+31 17x9+35 Reused the DZ102's from the stock AP2V3 wheels https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4346/3...b078238b_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4396/3...81ef16b4_b.jpg A bit too much stretch in front https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4367/3...21f77b96_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4342/3...a9bb6ebe_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4354/3...c13c90fd_b.jpg I'm not into the gunmetal wheels on a black car, I find the whole thing too dark now but the price was too good to pass on these. :D |
I think the Advans look perfect
Send me that catch can. |

I did a baseline (sort of) dyno back in June, stock car except with a PLM header and made 192 hp / 142 tq. Installed a 60mm test pipe and Gernby Flashpro tune sometime in between, re-dynoed yesterday and made 215 hp / 154 tq, with a healthy mid-range torque bump. Another positive data point for test pipe + Gernby tune...a must do for 06+ AP2's.

Kinda sucked carrying all this stuff from Yokohama back to Shinjuku, in retrospect I should've asked them to ship it to my hotel.

More parts collecting while the car is still in storage.
Picked up a second ARC exhaust a couple months ago cause it was (relatively) cheap, albeit in worse shape, compared to the first one. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4801/3...5a3577f7_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4796/3...1a236705_b.jpg A friend of mine in Japan also helped me acquire something relatively rare on this side of the pond https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/896/41...904b5692_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/865/41...bfd6be13_b.jpg Spent the evening cleaning & conditioning them with Lexol https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/875/40...3ab646bf_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/870/41...3eefebdf_b.jpg The driver side (our passenger) wasn't in the best of shape but cleaned up decently https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/814/40...4db58dd4_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/901/40...316db02a_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/868/26...8285be25_b.jpg |

They are in WA. I believe the new owner has a build thread here on s2ki. He has a very nice NFR.

Finally a nice weekend here so I took the S out of storage and did some maintenance on it, as well as install some of the parts collected.

awesome build... love this.
I'm gonna have to meet you in person some time this summer and do the rolling shoot. May be we can all get together with Dan and his new NSX and do a big shoot. I'll bring my camera as well. |

I picked up a set of Mugen brake lines a couple months ago and finally got them installed, along with a brake flush with Endless RF650.
After driving with the ARC exhaust a bit longer, it's a bit too loud for my taste, I'll have to try out the resonated one in the next couple weeks. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/909/41...e2733c6a_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/971/41...961afd74_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/956/41...064fdf9a_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/823/27...b5b02016_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/868/40...e054f8d0_b.jpg |
The paint was in pretty bad shape before I stored the car last year so I borrowed my friend's buffer and compound for the weekend and went to work.

I got the OEM brown seats installed a couple weeks back also, loving the interior color contrast. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/910/41...bfa81f5a_b.jpg Also ended up swapping the non-resonated ARC exhaust out for the resonated one, huge difference in drone between the two. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/951/41...0d0519c0_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/908/41...0cba2c35_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/969/41...d8e32d4b_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/943/41...9401d2b2_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/972/41...97e8f9f8_b.jpg |
