Keeping it simple - BB AP2 build

I've wanted an S2000 for about a decade now (hence my join date), but things never lined up and I kept adding more and more to my previous car to the point where I felt like I couldn't let go of it. It ended up being a car I didn't drive very often and I felt it was a waste of a second/toy car. Finally decided enough was enough this year. A friend was selling his 2009 S2000 around the same time I was starting to look and finally was able to fulfill this decade old dream of mine.

Someone local picked up all his mods and I got the car pretty much stock, with the exception of a PLM header.
I don't intend to do too much to the S2. Trying to keep it relatively simple, take my time with it and just enjoy driving again.

I did pick up a few things prior to buying an S2000, kinda forced myself to stick to the goal.
ARC exhaust
ARC intake
ARC rad plate
ARC spark plug cover

And I had a couple things I've collected over the years that I could use on the car.
ASM stubby antenna
Mugen oil cap
Mugen rad cap
Backyard Special titanium shift knob

Don't have any shots of the other parts but I'll update the thread periodically. Probably won't end up installing the exhaust and intake anytime soon, looking at getting a set of coilovers first and spacing the stock wheels out for this year. Trying to enjoy the car relatively stock for a year before doing much.

I thought I would keep the car stock with just OEM+ mods but that plan went out the window lol...

I didn't, I used the duplicolor brush on caliper paint kit.

Looks great! Where did you order your BYS seat rail from? Are you happy with it? I have been back and forth about ordering one.

I ordered it direct from BYS via a proxy. I haven't installed it yet though, maybe sometime this week. :)

Got the BYS seat rail installed. It lowers the stock seat by 20mm, doesn't seem like much but makes a world of difference to me in seating position.

Man, the ARC plate looks so much nicer in a black engine bay, especially with the OEM intake box. Just absolutely perfect IMO.

Update - went to a lapping day over the weekend and my buddy took the car on a bit of an offroad excursion, cracking the front lip. Going to run lipless for awhile. On the plus side though, got the oem premium floor mats in the mail yesterday. Sprayed some scotchgard on it and will install once it dries.

Ah thanks for reminding me about scotchgard! Lol. Bought same mats, so will need that to keep it in mint condition :)

Please learn me how to install them. I've had mine sitting around for a year & too afraid of cutting haphazardly to install :O

You can feel for the holes where the blue plastic inserts are supposed to go, just cut around there.

Looks clean, even without the lip. Love the ride height. I just bought those two piece floor mats too, but I just set them in the car for now. I was a little afraid of cutting too. Good to know it was easy.

I'm not into the gunmetal wheels on a black car, I find the whole thing too dark now but the price was too good to pass on these. :D

Remember not to use the Cusco hoses that comes with the ASM catch can. They collapsed on me after one track day SMH.

I did a baseline (sort of) dyno back in June, stock car except with a PLM header and made 192 hp / 142 tq. Installed a 60mm test pipe and Gernby Flashpro tune sometime in between, re-dynoed yesterday and made 215 hp / 154 tq, with a healthy mid-range torque bump. Another positive data point for test pipe + Gernby tune...a must do for 06+ AP2's. :thumbup:

Very nice build man very clean. I just did a trip to ASM as well when I visited Japan they are some REALLY nice people there. Japan is a great place will go again. Keep modding car looks great

It's pretty loud, I put on the one without the resonator in the mid pipe. Sounds great at WOT, but drones in the 3~4k rpm range. Gonna try to get some sound clips on the weekend.

I picked up a set of Mugen brake lines a couple months ago and finally got them installed, along with a brake flush with Endless RF650.

After driving with the ARC exhaust a bit longer, it's a bit too loud for my taste, I'll have to try out the resonated one in the next couple weeks.
