Default Looking for a hardtop..

Hey everyone, I'm sort of in the market for a hardtop. Not OEM because frankly I can't afford to spend $3-4k +

I'm leaning towards the aftermarket for cost sake. Frankly I dig the Mugen replica, or even the OEM style. I'm open to buying faded carbon fiber tops, or unpainted FRP tops. I don't want anything heavily chipped/cracked/missing hardware. I'd like something complete even if its not the prettiest. I plan on painting whatever I get Suzuka Blue to match the car so you can see why a faded top isn't a concern of mine. Please let me know what you want for them along with pictures.. I am willing to travel outside the bay area to pick one up but please let me know how far you are fro San Mateo CA, 94401. I'd like to avoid paying for shipping but if the price is right I might be down to do an online deal as well given you have a decent reputation with fellow bay area members here.

Thanks in advnace.

You can also text me @ 650.455.2416 or email me @ Dseck6387@comcast.net for a faster response.

Forbidden USA in Socal has the mugen replica for $800. That's a steep drop from their intro price. I'm sure it would cost a bit extra for shipping but if I am not mistaken, that is the cheapest price around for a hard top.

Right on for the heads up. I'm actually not too sure if I wanna get a forbidden now though, I've been reading reviews and seeing issues throughout diffrent threads and I think I might just scratch this idea and get and get the Amuse/RSG Replica by rockstar before next winter comes up.

At this point I'm still not sure what I wanna do.

Thanks man for the heads up, He actually messaged me on here earlir this week but based on the stress crack in the front it was recommended by my bodyshop that I pass on it as the force from the wind on the freeway might cause it to resurface.

I thought it was on the back near the window. If it was me I'd just fill it with resin with some fiberglass inside and call it done. For 700 it's a not bad and you and 300 for hardware

I might get rid of my mugen rep cf top later but still enjoying it for now

well if you decide to lmk.. I'm not in a major hurry or anything but if a deal comes around i'll nab it.

Also on that note, I'm curious. When it comes to the hardware I know most tops you can use the OEM latches from the soft top but when it comes to the rear latches what are the differences between some of the rear brackets available out there? What are the best brackets out there in terms of top removal? And are most brackets interchangable from brand to brand?

Brackets all can change as they made the rear mounts on the hardtop the same as oem

Oem allows use of hardtop and soft top
If you go with aftermarket one peice rears you can get the version that is ment to have the soft top in or the one without. You have to physically unbolt the bracket from the car to use soft top

The 2 peice rears function like oem and just require removing and you can use soft top

Many of use have gutted tops so we don't care

But I have heard the 2 peice is better for wind noise

Oh ok I see. Thanks for the info..

So far I'm still coming up empty handed. One top was damaged and the other guy that hit me up told me he wasn't sure if he wanted to sell it!?

People haven't made much sense to me lately, hahahaha
