Default WTB: MDF board + LED light

I've ordered an amp so now I just need some additional supporting materials!

WTB:
- MDF board in roughly 12" x 12" size.
- Small LED light with wires sufficient to connect to trunk switch.

Here's what I'm trying to power: a subwoofer and door speakers.

Kicker CVR124 (07CVR124)
12" Dual 4 Ohm CompVR Series Subwoofer
Power Handling:
Peak: 800 watts
RMS: 400 watts
Impedance: Dual 4 ohms
Inverted Structural Dome Polymineral Injection Molded Cone: Remains rigid, and lowers distortion
Rear Cone Brace: Offers unmatched strength and resistance to deformation
Ribbed Santoprene Surround for Linear Cone Motion
Silver-Coated Stamped Steel Basket
Stitched Surround: Ensures the cone and surround won't separate, even under the highest loads
High-temp Polyimide Film Voice Coil Former
Dual Ultra-Length Voice Coils
Perimeter Venting
Sleeved High-Power Tinsel Lead Wires
Spring Loaded Nickel-Plated Terminals
Focal Polyglass 165 VR 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component Speaker Kit
Frequency response: 60Hz - 28kHz
Nominal power: 75 W
Maximum power: 150W
Sensitivity: 94.5 dB
Cone: Polyglass
Surround: Butyl
Nom. impedance: 4 ohms
DC resistance: 3.2 ohms
VC diameter: 32mm (0.4 inch)
VC height: 11 mm (7/16 inch)
Former: Kapton
Layers: 2
Wire: Copper
Inductance: 0.25 mH
Magnet Dimensions (D x H): 85 x 17mm (3.35 x 0.67 inches)
Magnet weight: 420 g (.93 lb.)
Flux density : 1.1 T
Gap height: 6 mm
Net weight: 1350 g (2.98 lb.)

I'm always open to suggestions, and trying to gather as much info as possible. I last researched amplifiers 12 years ago when setting up my first sound system. Not much has changed since then, it seems. I'm also getting consultation from James!

I've been considering buying new, but was also hoping some amazing deal from a trusted source on s2ki might be found.

Been considering this option, new:

$299.89
JL Audio XD500/3 - 500W 3-Channel
Channels 1 & 2 RMS Power Rating (12.5V): 4 ohms: 60 watts x 2 chan.
Subwoofer Channel RMS Power Rating (14.4V): 2 ohms: 300 watts x 1 chan.

Also considering this option, new:

$389.00
JL Audio XD700/5 - 700W 5-Channel
75W x 4 @ 4Ω
300W x 1 @ 2Ω

Tom, you are totally right. My custom amp rack is made for the previous amplifier, which was rather huge (2.375" x 10" X Length: 18.5").

The two JL amps I'm considering are interestingly nearly the same size:

JL Audio XD700/5 - 700W 5-Channel
Dimensions (L x W x H): 10.23 x 7.09 x 2.05 in.

JL Audio XD500/3 - 500W 3-Channel
Dimensions (L x W x H): 10-1/4"L x 7-1/16"W x 2-1/16"H

I'd like to be "baller", but it's hard to justify spending $100+ on 2 extra channels that I wont end up using. Hopefully a bit more research and consultation will reveal some additional perks in buying the XD700 over the XD500.

Here's a picture of the prior amp sitting flush in the amp rack. Dimensions of the amp were (2.375" x 10" X 18.5"):

Here's a ghetto mock-up that I just made of the amp window in the amp rack with rough measurements:

Bottom line is that I'm going to probably need to modify the amp rack to make it look flush again, or somehow get creative.

After some thought I've come up with an idea to fill the inevitable void that will appear in my amp rack window due to the replacement amp being smaller. I've always wanted to somehow integrate a small model of my car (lit up by an LED with the trunk light switch). I actually never got a chance to integrate this into my previous car audio set up, and at the time of designing the S2000 system, it wasn't possible. I ended up helping a friend design a system for his Audi A8L and we pulled it off in his system. I'm thinking the same sort of thing can be done within the future void of my amp rack.

Here's the wide view of the Audi trunk, notice the panel on the right hand side with the model-audi in the window:

Here's a close up of the illuminated model car:

And here's one of the three model yellow S2000's I bought when I cleared out Amazon's remaining stock:

With that said...

WTB:
- MDF board in roughly 12" x 12" size.
- Small LED light with wires sufficient to connect to trunk switch.

very impressive! Your setup looks like it came from the factory that way. This inspires me to get off my butt and do something with my car... been suffering with the stock radio for 12 years now!

That was totally my goal to make it seem factory. I could have done the same set up in black and yellow contrasting vinyl but I desired the morning OEM factory color carpet look. You'd think my trunk space is entirely eliminated but I can still fit planets of stuff in there. I highly recommend doing some basic speakers in the s2000 it's such a nice upgrade. No need to go crazy.
