ap2 to ap1 taillight conversion

i was jus wondering if any cutting was required for a taillight conversation from ap2 to ap1. TIA

No,

you shouldn't have to do any cutting, because you cut to make the holes bigger for AP2s... so if you're going down to an AP1 size base.. you should be fine
