Blackberry
so i'm considering getting one, just for convenience sake, and was wondering if anyone else has one (i'm sure some of you guys do), and your feedback on it.
i basically need something that's gonna be a phone, internet access and planner in one..

I have one for work purposes. Phone options suck. no call history, missed call notification, etc. But the outlook (email calendar) works great. WAP pages found on the blackberry seem to load fairly quikly but are not that convient. If you are constantly getting emails like myself and are not always at your desk then the blackberry will work great. I wish they had a better phone options though. i still love mine in the end

Depends on what is more important. If the phone is more important, then get the 7100 series. If typing emails is more important, then get the 7200 series. I've used just about every model out there and I couldn't see living without one. Much better than a Treo. Both series have call history and miss call notification, so I'm not sure why gotvtecboost says otherwise.
Well, I'm not one of the guys, but I have a Blackberry 7100. I like it better than the 7290 for email and phone. It takes a day to get used to typing because there are 2 letters per key, but you just type normal and it figures out the word you are typing. You don't have to hit a key more than once to get your desired letter, you just hit the key the letter is on and the device figures it out.
I tested a Treo 600 and for internet it sucked big time. I haven't tried a 650 so can't comment. Internet is slow and tedious on any wireless handheld, but I find it much easier on the Blackberry.
My 7100 gives me missed call notifications, voicemail notification and call history. I thought my 7290 did also, but it has been awhile since I had that one.
I use it with my company's corporate email (exhcange) and I can easily check my yahoo mail from the internet browser.
I would pick the Treo over the 7290, but you will have to pry the 7100 out of my cold dead hands. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions.

have you considered the Treo 600/650?

you have to understand, i still have my cheap $20 Nokia that i absolutely love and am really sad to consider giving up
it's easy to use and i drop it at least once daily and it still works perfect. i bought a new phone a couple years ago and hated it, there went $250 down the drain, and i went back to using my NOkia. But carrying around a big 1980's size planner and a phone and a handbag just isn't cutting it anymore, and i find myself all to often needing to get to my email or internet for work.. and being light and mobile is essentialso please tell me more about the Treo

The 7100 is newer. Is is a little smaller and feels/looks more like a phone than a bulkier PDA.
Call history list is very easily accessible. You just go into phone mode. Scroll to the phone icon and click or just hit the green phone button on the keyboard. Your call history is right there. You can choose to see missed (or all) calls in your email screen too if you wish.
I found the Blackberry to be much better at manuvering between applications: email, phone, contacts.... You can be in an email from someone and click the wheel (it in on the side of the device) and you can call the person right from that menu if you have their phone number saved in the contacts.
