I don't see this risk you are taking about? But you are okay with home made bodily protection? Reloading is a pretty exact science. It's not like you are making the "powder".
The two are very different. In my cost/benefit assessment of re-loading, the potential saves $1000/year are not worth the potential injury, hospital time, damaged gun, or permanent disfigurement/income reducing injury. You may feel differently.
